1. General

Within these release notes you will find:

General information about installation of DTMs, their platform compliance and compliance for third party frames.

Information on how to identify a DTM in the event of operational problems.

Device configuration notes for individual device behavior.

2. Installation

It is recommended to uninstall previous versions of DTMs before installing new versions. Follow the instructions in the set-up wizard.

This installation contains the following DTM:

Endress + Hauser SFC173 DTM V1.01.01

3. FDT Version

The DTM is compatible to interface specification FDT 1.2 including addendum.

4. Frame Applications

The listed DTM is released for:

FieldCare V2.04.00 and later

For additional operating system information concerning the above frame applications (e.g. WINDOWS NT, necessary service packs) please refer to the corresponding product release notes.

The DTM is not released for third party frame applications.

If the DTM is run within a third party frame application, Endress+Hauser cannot guarantee correct functionality.

If you need the DTM to be integrated into third party frame applications, please contact Endress+Hauser.

5. Problem Handling

If you encounter any problems with Endress+Hauser DTMs, please be prepared with the following information before contacting your local Endress+Hauser representative.

Name of the frame application and version (refer to the about box)

WINDOWS and service pack versions

Select the device from the context menu by a right mouse-click on the device in network view to find etc.

5.1. Known Problems and Limitations

5.1.1. Limitation of simultaneous connections

The SFC173 supports up to 32 simultaneous connections only. Parallel usage of Condition Monitoring and online parameterization is not possible due to hardware restrictions.

5.1.2. DP/PA Link and SFC173 supports one online device only

Devices below the SFC173\DP/PA Link DTM must be set to online mode one at a time.

5.1.3. Connection lost after more than 24hrs / SFC173 and Condtion

Monitoring

Having DTMs online for more than 24hrs could lead to a connection reset of the Profibus Master. In this case the SFC173 DTM disconnects the connection also. Reconnect afterwards to continue your work.

Condtion Monitoring reconnects automatically und observes as before. Just confirm the error message of FieldCare.

5.1.4. Using the same SFC173 hardware twice

To prevent data inconsistency it is strongly recommended to use only one connection at a time to one SFC173 controller. For example, do not use two SFC173 ComDTMs connecting to one SFC173 hardware platform in a project.

5.1.5. Firewall blocking SFC173

Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista Firewall blocks the SFC173 CommServer. Confirm unblocking the application during the initial update of the DTM Catalog. Take care that the ports 1089-1092 are unblocked as well. We recommend consulting your local system administrator before changing the security settings on your machine.
