No longer a double period for Lang.Arts+Reading (but we still do the same amount of work for the class!)

More reading & writing done at home

Individualized online grammar instruction (www.comfit.com)

Wordly Wise schedule—new lessons on Friday (HW over the weekend), check all on Wednesday, quiz on Thursday

Reading Journal (alternates with W.Wise, done @ home)—assigned on Friday, due next Friday

Literature in Context—“Turning Experience into

Art”

Speaking of History…Civil War novel, Family Story project (oral history), American poetry from the 1850s to today, Great Depression novel, Holocaust memoirs

Shakespeare—read, perform, design (in conjunction with Drama class)

First Grade Book—create an illustrated story book about a 1st grader (in conjunction with Art class)

Writing workshop—poetry, edited family story, short stories, reading journals, free writes, essays

with their child.
