The Worship of God

9:30 a.m.

CALL TO WORSHIP Chancel Choir “Holy Ground”

*STATEMENT OF FAITH

All: We are not alone, we live in God's world.

We believe in God:

who has created and is creating,

who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,

to reconcile and make new,

who works in us and others by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the church:

to celebrate God's presence,

to love and serve others,

to seek justice and resist evil,

to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,

our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,

God is with us.

We are not alone.

Thanks be to God.

Amen.

A Statement of the Faith of the United Church of Canada # 883

*HYMN # 117

“O God, Our Help in Ages Past” (verses 1, 2, 4 & 6)

THE PSALM

Liturgist: In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame.

All: In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me;

incline your ear to me and save me.

Liturgist: Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me,

for you are my rock and my fortress.

All: Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,

from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.

Liturgist: For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from

my youth.

All: Upon you I have leaned from my birth; it was you who

took me from my mother’s womb.

My praise is continually of you. Psalm 71

“Cares Chorus”

The Worship of God 11 a.m.

There is no Order of Service printed for the 11 a.m. worship. You will be guided today from the pulpit and projection.

Revelation: The Power of Hope

Revelation 11: 15-19 (Page 252 New Testament in Pew Bible)

We don't realize how much we need hope until we seem to have lost it.

One of the main themes in Revelation is hope, even though the word “hope” is never used.

Followers are encouraged to remain faithful and be patient, and God will act soon. They are reminded over and over that

they will overcome (which also meant “be victorious”). God will be victorious in the end.

That is Christian Hope. That is Kingdom Hope. Christian hope is more powerful than any other kind of hope,

and it is part of the gift that is God's love.
