GOVERNMENT ADVERTISING COSTS -INCLUDING CAMPAIGNS - 2009/10

Document prepared under - Sections 75 (1) of the GIPA Act

Scope of the GIPA Act Application:

Application requesting access to the following: 1. Total amount spent by the NSW govemment on advertising for the period 1 July 2009 to 30

June 2010 broken down by departments and agencies; and 2. The total amount spent per advertising campaign for the period 1 July 2009 to 30 June

2010.

In accordance with, section 72 (1)(d) information has been compiled after examination of financial records in the possession of the Department of Services Technology and Administration (DSTA), as follows:

Item 1 above: All advertising media expenditure by agency for period 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010-refer attachment A.

• Media placement costs for advertising campaigns during 1 July 2009 to 31 March 2010 - refer attachment B.

• Media placement costs for advertising campaigns during 1 April 2010 to 30 June 2010- refer attachment C.

1. The schedules have been prepared by the Department of Services Technology & Administration, Strategic Communications and Government Advertising Division from reports by NSW Government rnedia agencies and suppliers.

2. Media expenditure information relates only to the cost of the media space for advertising. Details of all other advertising costs eg production is held by the government agency responsible and not DSTA.

3. Media expenditure information may be subject to change following reconciliation of advertising placements at the completion of advertising activities.

4. Campaign media costs are provided in two separate reports (Tab C & D) as the July 2009 - March 2010 period information was already a completed report currently published on the DSTA website. The report for the period April to June was compiled specifically for this request.
