WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRAISE AND PRAYER

PRELUDE “Partita on Tallis' Canon" Bristol

*CALL TO WORSHIP Kristen Surratt Come to Christ, that living stone, rejected by the world, but in God’s sight chosen and precious. We have responded to Christ’s call, and seek to be built into a spiritual house, a living reminder of God’s presence on earth. Once we were no people, but now we are God’s people, called out of the darkness into God’s marvelous light. Therefore we sing with the Church in all ages: Blessed by your name, O God, our Redeemer. By your mercy we have been born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

*PROCESSIONAL HYMN No. 559 “Christ is Made the Sure Foundation”

*OPENING PRAYER Almighty God, upon your Son Jesus Christ you built your holy Church. Bless this your congregation. Watch over our ministry and mission and sustain us to the end, through Jesus Christ our foundation. Amen.

PROCLAMATION OF GOD’S WORD

CHORAL ANTHEM “Fairest Lord Jesus” Craig Courtney Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nations, O thou of God and man the Son, Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor, Thou, my soul's glory, joy, and crown. Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands, robed in the blooming garb of spring: Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer, Who makes the woeful heart to sing. Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight, and all the twinkling starry host; Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer than all the angels heaven can boast. Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations! Son of God and Son of Man! Glory and honor, praise, adoration, now and forevermore be Thine! A-men.

NEW TESTAMENT LESSON (NT Pg. 233) 1 Peter 2: 1-10 Brad Overcash This is the Word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

SERMON Rev. George Ragsdale

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
