Offerings are part of our worship life and heartfelt expression of gratitude to the Lord who has given all we have. Three ways to give…

Restrooms – Restrooms are located through the entry way, to the left as you exit the worship area.

Nursery/Cry Room - We love worshipping with children. If you need a place to go with small children, there is a nursery/cry room on the right of the entryway as you leave the church. The room is equipped with a viewing window and speakers so you can continue to participate in the worship service.

WE LISTEN TO THE WORD OF GOD FIRST LESSON: Isaiah 61:1-3 (NIV84)

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,

the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

♫ HYMN

“Lord, Speak to Us that We May Speak” Red Hymnal 561

1 Lord, speak to us that we may speak In living echoes of your tone. As you have sought, so let us seek Your straying children, lost and lone.

2 Oh, lead us, Lord, that we may lead The wand’ring and the wav’ring feet. Oh, feed us, Lord, that we may feed Your hung’ring ones with manna sweet.

3 Oh, teach us, Lord, that we may teach The precious truths which you impart, And wing our words that they may reach The hidden depths of many a heart.

4 Oh, fill us with your fullness, Lord, Until our very hearts o’erflow In kindling thought and glowing word Your love to tell, your praise to show. SECOND LESSON: Romans 5:6-11 (NIV84)

6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

♫ SERMON HYMN

“Spread, Oh, Spread the Mighty Word” Red Hymnal 576

1 Spread, oh, spread the mighty Word; Spread the kingdom of the Lord Ev’rywhere his breath has giv’n Life to beings meant for heav’n.

2 Tell them how the Father’s will Made the world and keeps it still, How his only Son he gave All from sin and death to save.

3 Tell of our Redeemer’s love, Who forever does remove By his holy sacrifice All the guilt that on us lies.

4 Tell them of the Spirit giv’n Now to guide us on to heav’n, Strong and holy, just and true, Working both to will and do.

5 Up! The rip’ning fields you see. Mighty shall the harvest be, But the reapers still are few; Great the work they have to do.

6 Lord of harvest, grant anew, Joy and strength to work for you, Till the gath’ring nations all See your light and heed your call.

SERMON MESSAGE: “Fearless Focuses on Others!” TEXT: Matthew 9:35-38 (NIV84)

35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

LORD, HAVE MERCY

LORD’S PRAYER:

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power

and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Special Prayers and Intercessions

Prayer for Grace

P: O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to this new day. Defend us with your mighty power, and grant that this day we neither fall into sin nor run into any kind of danger; and in all we do, direct us to what is right in your sight, through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord.

♫ CLOSING HYMN

“I Hear the Savior Calling” Red Hymnal 560

1 I hear the Savior calling! The gospel comes to me. My eyes once closed in blindness Are opened now to see That I myself was helpless To live eternally, But, dying, Christ did save me, And now he calls for me! 2 I hear the Savior calling! He leads a soul to me, A soul in bitter anguish, One needing to be free. The gift I have to offer Is Christ, my Lord’s decree That all have been forgiven—My Savior calls for me! 3 I hear the Savior calling! He gives this charge to me: To serve the best I’m able, Whate’er the call may be.

Page 11: SERVICE OF THE WORD - crossandcrowntx.com · - 1 - We believe God brought you all here today! May you be blessed, strengthened and uplifted by your time of worship. GUESTS! – A

- 10 -

Thus hand in hand with others Who share the gospel key We spread the gospel tidings—My Savior calls for me! 4 I hear the Savior calling! He changes hearts for me. From door to door I witness To bring my Savior’s plea; Yet nothing can be added, No word on bended knee, Beyond the simple gospel—My Savior calls for me!

5 I hear the Savior calling! His call has urgency! Each moment souls are dying; Soon comes eternity. And so, my precious Savior, This is my humble plea: Prepare me for my mission For you are calling me!
