WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRAISE AND PRAYER

PRELUDE “When Morning Gilds the Skies” Wood

*CALL TO WORSHIP Based on Psalm 19 Margie Ligon The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing our hearts. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. In keeping God's word, there is great reward. Let us therefore bow down and worship our Maker, our Rock and our Redeemer. Alleluia! Amen.

*PROCESSIONAL HYMN No. 73 “O Worship the King”

*OPENING PRAYER Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PROCLAMATION OF GOD’S WORD

CHORAL ANTHEM “Order My Steps” Schrader Order my steps in your Word, dear Lord, lead me, guide me, every day. Send your anointing, Father, I pray. Order my steps in your Word, please, order my steps in your Word. Humbly I ask Thee, teach me your will, While You are working, help me be still. Though Satan is busy, God is real! Order my steps in your Word, please, order my steps in your Word. I want to walk worthy, my calling to fulfill. Please order my steps, Lord, and I’ll do your blessed will. The world is ever changing, but You are still the same. If You order my steps, I’ll praise your name. Order my steps in your Word, order my tongue in your Word; Guide my feet in your Word, wash my heart in your Word. Show me how to walk in your Word, Show me how to talk in your Word. When I need a brand new song to sing Show me how to let your praises ring, in your Word.

WELCOME! We’re glad you chose to worship with us this morning. We invite you to check out the oppor-tunities we have for children, youth and adults of all ages and stages of life. We offer ministries and a community of faith that will help challenge and encourage you as together we seek to grow as faithful followers of Jesus Christ, serving God and our neighbor in all that we do.

RECEIVING THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY BAPTISM this morning at our eleven o’clcok service is Kennedy Grace Robinson, daughter of Jason and Kelly Robinson. With joy and thanksgiving we welcome Kennedy as a member of the family of Christ.

LUNCH TO SUPPORT LILY SLOAN: Following the 11:00 a.m. service this morning, our Missions and Service Committee is hosting a BBQ lunch to support church member Lily Sloan. Lily will share with us more about her journey and tell us how we can keep us with her while she is serving. A love offering will be collected.

JOIN US AT 7:OO P.M. TONIGHT FOR CAMPFIRE WORSHIP. We will have an a cappella hymn-sing, with favorites such as Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee and Praise to the Lord, the Almighty. Aer a time of discussion and sharing, the children will make and package cookies that will then be hand-delivered to our neighbors. DISCIPLE CLASS RETURNING: Disciple Bible Study small-groups are forming now. Pastor George will be facilitating Disciple I on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning September 18. For more information about the 30-week Disciple study or to register, visit www.fumcbelmont.org/disciple. Study manuals are available for purchase for $34.

POTATO DROP: Together with other UMC churches in our missional network, we will be participating in a “Potato Drop” from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, September 30 in the parking lot of Park Street UMC. The Society of St. Andrew will drop off 40,000 pounds of gleaned potatoes – perfect to eat but not aesthetically pleasing enough for a grocery store – that will be separated and bagged by volunteers. Bagged potatoes will then be delivered and donated to local charities by volunteers. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to work with other area churches and organizations and to show care and compassion by feeding the hungry. Visit www.fumcbelmont.org/missions/activities for more information to and sign-up to help.

THE CONGREGATION IS ASKED to keep the Youth Leadership Team in prayer on Wednesday and Thursday this week as they study scripture on great leaders, plan events and pray for the ministry they are leading this school year here at FUMC Belmont.
