WarnInGs and saFetY PrecaUtIons• This stove is designed and
approved for pelletized woodfuel,cherrypits, orcornwithnomorethan14%moisture.
• Contactlocalbuildingorfireofficialsabout restrictionsand installationinspection requirements in yourarea. Contactyour localauthority(such as municipal bui ldingdepartment, fire department,fire prevention bureau, etc.) todetermine theneed for apermit.Notifyyour insurancecompanyofparlorstoveinstallation.
• Never use gasoline, gasoline-typelantern fuel, kerosene, charcoallighter fluid, or similar liquids tostart or keep a fire going in thisstove.Suchliquidsshouldbekeptwellawayfromthestovewhileitisinuse.
• The exhaust system must becompletely airtight and properlyinstalled. The pellet vent joints,bothverticalandhorizontal,mustbesealedwithRTV500oF.(260oC.)siliconesealant.
• If you suspect a problem ormalfunctionwiththestove,donotunplugit.TurntheMODESWITCHto “OFF” and periodically inspectthestove.
• Thisunitmustbeproperlyinstalledtopreventthepossibilityofahousefire.Forproperinstallation,adherestrictly to the instructions in theinstallation and service manual.Donotusealternativemethodsorcompromiseintheinstallation.
• Nevertrytoserviceorreplaceanypartofthestoveunlessinstructionsare given in this manual. Thisworkshouldbedonebyatrainedtechnician.
• This stove requires periodicmaintenanceandcleaning.Failuretomaintainyourstovecanleadtosmokespillageinyourhome.Usean approved ash vacuum whencleaningyourstove.
• WhenyourCumberlandStoveisinuse and operational, the viewingdoorandashpanmustbeclosed.
• Do not operate the stove if theflamebecomesdarkandsootyorif thefirepotoverfillswithpellets.Turn the MODE SWITCH to “OFF”andperiodicallyinspectthestove.Contact your dealer for moreinformation.

• Ardisam,Inc.,grantsnowarranty,implied or stated, for theinstallation or maintenanceof your stove, and assumesno responsibility of anyconsequentialdamage(s).
• Thestovewillnotoperateduringapoweroutage. Donotunplugthe stove. The stove will returnto range screen and must bereignited.
• This stove must be connectedto a standard 115 V., 60 Hzgrounded electrical outlet. Donotuseanadapterplugorseverthegroundingplug.Donotroutetheelectricalcordunderneath,infrontof,oroverthestove.
• This stove isapproved formobilehomes. Accord ing to HUD(Housing&UrbanDevelopment)requirements,when installed inamobile home, this stovemustbegroundeddirectly to the steelchassis of themobile home andboltedtothefloor.Directairaccessmustbeprovided—useaFreshAirKit.The structural integrityof themobilehomefloor,wall,andceiling/roofMUst Be maintained.
• Disconnectthepowercordbeforeperforming any maintenance.NOTE: Turning the Mode Switch to “OFF” does not disconnect all power to the heater.
• The exhaust system should bechecked twice a year minimumfor any build-up of soot orcreosote. Contact a servicingdealerforassistance.
• Do not throw this manual away,asitcontainsimportantoperatingand maintenance instructionsthatyouwillneedatalatertime.Always follow the instructions inthismanual.
• Donot touch thehot surfacesofthestove. Educateallchildrenofthedangerofahigh-temperaturestove. Young children should besupervised when they are in thesameroomasthestove.
• Do not place clothing or otherflammable items on or near thestove. Because this stovecanbecontrolled by a thermostat thereisapossibilityofthestoveturningonand ignitingany itemsplacedonornearit.
• Before cleaining or performinganyservice toyourstove,ensurethe stove has had time to cool.Ashes should be disposed of inametalcontainerwithatight lidandplacedonanon-combustiblesurfacewellawayfromthehomeorstructure.

• Proper installationofthisstove isnecessaryforsafeandefficientoperation.Installingthisproductimproperlymayresult inahousefireandpersonal injury.All applicablebuilding codes for your locationmustbe followed. Inareaswherebuilding codes requireadditional steps tothe installationof thisproduct thatarenot included inthe installationandservicemanual, thebuildingcodeshaveprecedenceandmustbe followed.Contact yourlocalbuildinginspectortoobtainanynecessarypermitsorinspectionguidelinesbeforeinstallingtheproduct.
• Aworkingsmokedetectorisrequiredandmustbeinstalledinthesameroomasthestove.
• This installationmust conformwith local codes. In theabsenceoflocalcodesyoumustcomplywithASTME1509,(UM)84-HUD,ULC/ORDC-1482.
• Keepcombustiblematerials(suchasgrass,leaves,etc.)atleastthree(3)feetawayfromtheflueoutletontheoutsideofthebuilding.

caUtIon• Installationandrepairofthisparlorstoveshouldbe
donebyaqualified serviceperson.Theapplianceshouldbeinspectedbeforeuseandatleastannuallybyaqualified serviceperson. It is imperative thatcontrol compartments, firebox, andcirculatingairpassagewaysofthestovebekeptclean.
• Theoperationof exhaust fans such as bathroomfans,atticfans,etc.,mightstarvetheparlorstoveofcombustibleair creatinganegativepressure in theroom.Thepressureswitchmayshutoffoperationoftheparlorstove.Forthisreason,CumberlandStoveWorksrecommendsusinganoutsideairconnection.
• Themovingpartsofthisstovearepropelledbyhightorqueelectricmotors.Thesepartscancauseseveredamage tobodyparts thatgetnear them.Keepallbodypartsawayfromaugerandfanswhilethestoveispluggedintoanelectricaloutlet.Thesemovingpartsmaybegintomoveatanytimethestoveispluggedin.
• Iftheelectricalpowerfailswhilethestoveishot,keepallstovedoorsclosed.DONOTunplug.
• Ventsurfacescangethotenoughtocauseburns iftouched.Noncombustibleshieldingorguardsmayberequired.
• Install vent at clearances specified by the ventmanufacturer.
• All venting joints,whether vertical or horizontal,shouldbemadegas-tightwithrecommendedsealantsspecifiedbyventmanufacturer.

BUrnInG solId FUelsAshesneedtoberemovedfromthestoveperiodically.Seethe“NormalCare&Maintenance”sectionforcleaningprocedure.
Theparlorstove,duetothenatureofsolidfuels,willrequirebriefperiodicattention.Afewmomentsofadjustmentandcleaning fromtimeto time isan importantpartofburningsolidfuels.
Thisparlorstovehasbeendesignedtoburndryshelledcorn,woodpelletsandcherrypits.
SHELLED CORN• corn must contain less than 14% moisture content. Wet
cornwill rapidlydeteriorate stovecomponents, reduceefficiencyandvoidallwarranties.Purchaseamoisturetesterifindoubt.
• Cornmustbecleanandfreefromdebris.Neverburncornright fromthefield.Damagecausedbydirtycorn isnotcoveredbytheproductwarranty.ask for screened corn only.Stalkparts,excessivefinesandcobremnantswillclogtheairflowholesinburnplate.Checkthecornforforeignobjects.
• Storethecornsupplyinadryplaceandkeepthebagsorcontainersealedtopreventitfromabsorbingexcessmoisture.Testthemoisturecontentperiodicallytoensuretheproperdryness.
• Therearemanyvarietiesofcorn.Eachvarietyhasuniquecharacteristicsincludingtheshapeandsizeofthekernel.Ascorncharacteristicschange,thefuelrangemayhavetochangeaccordingly.

PELLETS• Aswithcorn,findaconsistentpelletsupplier.Pelletswill
varyincontentandburncharacteristicsfromsuppliertosupplier.Aconsistentsupplyofpelletswillresultinamoreconsistentandefficientburn.
• Beforeburning,checkthepelletsforforeignobjects.Thestovewarrantywillnotcoverdamagedonetothestoveduetoforeignobjectsinthefuelsupply.
• Store thepellets in adryplace toprevent them fromabsorbingaddedmoisture.
• Todecreasedustbuild-up, thehopperwill need tobevacuumedoutafterevery6-8bagsofpellets—moreoftenifthepelletsarepoorquality.Youmayhavetoscreeneachbagofpelletsifdustbecomesaproblem.
• Wood pelletsaregenerallyproducedoutofwoodwastesuchassawdustandshavings.Therawmaterial isdried,mechanicallyfractionedtosizeandextrudedunderintensepressureintopellets.Woodpelletsneedtobeprotectedfromdirectwaterpenetration.Ifexposedtowaterdropletsfromcondensation theywillgraduallydecomposeandloose their effectiveness as a fuel.Thedecompositioninvolves expanded volume, andover time, a gradualbreakdown.

Duringapoweroutage,thestovewillshutdownsafely.Itwillnotautomaticallyrestartwhenthepowerreturns.Ifthestoveis still atoperating temperaturewhenpower returns, theconvectionfanwillventtheremainingheatoutofthestove.See“LightingInstructions”sectionformoreinformation.
OvERHEaTiNg
over-Fire Protection: If the stoveis being over-fired or burningtoohot, thehigh limit switchwillautomatically shutdownthestoveto avoiddamage to components.Allowthestovetocoolatleastonehourbeforerelighting.Thehighlimitswitch is locatedbehind the rightaccesspanel.Toresetthehighlimitswitch,firstremovetherightaccesspanel (see FIGUre a). Thenpressthesquarebuttoninthemiddleoftheswitch. see FIGUre B.

MoUntInG tHe controllerThe CSWMF Series Stove has three different controllermountingoptions:
1. Back of the stove with controller visible:Youmaymountthecontrolleroneithersideoftherearofthestove(FIGUre 6a)soitisvisibleduringoperation.Todoso,usethe metal mountingbracketandthefour(4)self-tappingscrews(two(2)throughtheplasticbracketandtwo(2)throughthebackpanelofthestove).Attachthroughthepre-drilledholes.
Note:Self-tappingscrewsmustpenetratehopper.
2. Back of the stove with controller hidden:Youmaymountthecontrolleroneithersideofthestove(FIGUre 6B)soitisnotvisibleduringoperation.Attachtheplasticmountingbrackettothepre-drilledholesoneithersideofthestoveusingthe(2)self-tappingscrews.
Note:Self-tappingscrewsmustpenetratehopper.
3. Wall mounted (FIGUre 8):Youmaymountthecontrolleronthewallnexttotheunitusingtwodrywallscrews.Itisbesttoembedthescrewsintoastud.Useastudfindertolocatestudsinthewall.

AUL-listed three-or four-inch (3”or4”) typeLpellet ventexhaustsystemmustbeusedforinstallationandattachedtothepipeconnectorprovidedonthebackofthestove.Usea3”to4”adapterfor4”pipe.AcapmustbeusedattheterminationoftypeLventchimneys.Atelevationsgreaterthan2,500feetabovesealevel,afour-inch(4”)Lisrequired.

The controller “TEST MODE” is configured to run all of theoutputs (combustion fan, convection fan, igniter, air pump,andaugermotor)simultaneouslyatfullpower.Duringthetestmode,theaugerwillstopif thehopperdoor isopened,andthe“VACUUMFAULTCHECKSEALS”messagewillbedisplayedifdoororashpanisopen.Thetestmodeisdesignedtotestthat all of the outputs are working and the wiring harnessconnectionsarecorrect. It isalsodesignedtoverify that thevacuumswitchandthehopperswitcharefunctioningproperly.
Toactivatethetestmode,unplugthestove,wait5seconds,andplugthestovebackin.Thedisplaywillfirstread“Ardisamv1.00”.
AlwaysmetertheOUTPUTS(1/4”tabterminals)inpairsaslabeledonthecontroller.Powerwiresareontheleft,commonwiresareontheright.Therestoftheoutputs(everythingexcepttheaugermotor)donotneedinputterminalbypassedtosupply120VACtotheoutputDURINgTHETESTMODE.see FIGUre 19.
If the auger motor stilldoesn’t turn, check thevoltage of the augermotor leads and thevoltage of the augermotor terminals on thecontroller. Both shouldread 110V to 120V AC.If there is voltage tothe augermotor but itdoesn’t turn, the augeris either plugged, orthe motor is defective.If there is no voltageto the harness, put ajumperwirebetweenINPUTpins1and2ontheinputconnectorandmeterbetweenOUTPUTtabs3and4onthecontrolboard.Ifthereisnovoltagepresent,replacethecontrolboard(InterfaceModule–PartNumber730054).Thissameprocedurecanbeusedforthecombustionblower,convectionblower,airpump,andheat torch.
NOTE: when you have completed your work in the TEST mODE, the only way to exit the TEST mODE sequence is to unplug the stove. You will then need to go through the start-up process again, reigniting the stove and selecting the appropriate fuel range.

Ineithercase,alloftheoutputsonthecontrollerwillbeonfullpowerat110to120VoltsAC.Nowallofthemotorscanbecheckedforrotationandfunction,andtheigniterandairpump can be checked for heat production and air output.If theaugerdoesnot runduring the testmode,makesurethatthehopperswitchisdepressed.Ifthehopperswitchisdepressedbuttheaugermotorstilldoesnotturn,disconnectthehopperswitchandplugthewiringharnessendsintoeachother. If plugging thewiring harness ends into each otherturntheaugeron,thehopperswitchisdefective.Replacetheswitch.do not leave tHe Harness BYPassed.

The vacuum in the firebox should be 0.10 to 0.25 W.C.during the STARTINg FIRE phase. Variables that contributeto changing fan offsets include voltage drop in the cordsupplyingpowertothestove,lowvoltagesupplyfromutility,venting configurations that either limit flow or supply toomuch natural draft, and extreme cold temperatures thathindermotorRPM.
NOTE: The CV OFFSET is set at 0 and should be turned up as high as 9 to move more room air.
The fan options and voltage offsets are not intended tocompensateforapoorlymaintainedordirtystove.Forthisreason, the voltage offset is not in the this manual. Thevoltageoffsetcanonlybeperformedonacleanstovewithcleanventing,acleanblower,cleanexhaustmanifold,cleanfirepot,cleanfireplateandacleanpotholder.
NOTE: when you have completed your work in the FaN OPTiONS, the only way to exit the FaN OPTiONS sequence is to unplug the stove. You will then need to go through the start-up process again, reigniting the stove and selecting the appropriate fuel range.

Oncethestovehasbeenproperlyinstalledandpluggedintoagroundedsurgeprotector, youarenearly ready tobeginoperation. Prior to thefirstuse,however, it isnecessary toensurethefuelshutoffgateisopen.YourCumberlandStove isequippedwitha fuelgate in thehopper, which prevents fuel from entering into the auger.Thisfeatureprovidestwoimportantattributestoyourstove:
1.Ifyouraugermechanismrequiresservice,thegatecanbeclosedtoallowitsremovalwithoutemptyingthehopperoffuel.
2.Inanover-tempsituation,thefuelgatewillautomaticallycloseandtheaugerwillevacuateanymaterialintheaugerhousing.
Cumberland Stoves are shipped with the fuel gates open,which ensures fuel enters the auger. However, duringshippingthefuelgateissusceptibletoclosingandmayneedtobeopened.Youcandetermineifthefuelgateisclosedbyopeningthehopper.Iftheaugerisvisibleatthebottomofthehopper,thegateisopenandyoucanproceedwiththeinitialoperation.
If the auger is not visible, you will need to open the fuelshutoffgatebyperformingthefollowinginstructions.Ifyouwishtoservicetheauger,theseproceduresalsoallowyoutoclosethefuelshutoffgate.

Byplacingyourhandsonbothsidesoftherightsidepanel,lift straight up and then tilt the bottomof thepanel awayfrom the stove. Lower the panel slowly when the bottomclearsthestove.Setpanelasideforreinstallation.
