Sash Replacement

• For standard size sash, use dash (I) and Circular ( ) marks on the sash for hardware locations. • For custom-size sash, use measurements indicated in step for hardware locations.

Wear gloves, safety glasses goggles or eye shields when handling glass. Tape broken glass with filament or duct tape before removal to reduce glass fragmentation.

Identify the hardware style that corresponds to the hardware on your window unit in one of the following sections A-G. Proceed to that section in the guide for detailed instructions on replacing your sash.

• Checkthesashsize,glasstype,color,andkitcontentstoverifyallpartsarecorrect.• Theunit/sashopeningmustbeplumb,level,square,andfreeofanybowedjambs.Tocheck,measureframe

diagonallyfromcornertocorner.Themeasurementsmustbewithin1/8"ofeachother.• Inspectforanydamagetotheframeandvinylcover.Repairasneeded.• Ifanyoftheaboverequirementsarenotmet,haveaqualifiedcarpenter,builder,orcontractordetermine

whether the window frame should be replaced or reinstalled, or if there are structural problems that need to be corrected before sash replacement.

Sash must be supported during entire removal and installation procedures. Failure to support Sash mayresultininjuryorproductdamage.

When drilling into the Sash, drillonly1/8"deeptoavoidpenetrating the glass area or drilling through the Sash.

Hinge Arms and window frame.• CrankOperator open to clear Sash.

2. Release Operator Arm

• ReleasetheOperator Arm Clip from the Sash Bracket usingaflatbladescrewdriver.

• IfthereisasashLimited Vent Control Plate, remove screw and slide it off from the hinge plate.

• OpentheSashtoabout30°andremovetheStopper ScrewsfromtheUpperandLowerHingeChannel.

• Keepscrewsforreuse.

4. Remove Sash

• HoldSashfirmlyandslideTop and Bottom Hinge Shoes off ends of hinge channels and remove Sash.

• PlaceSashonaflatworkingsurfacewiththeinteriorfacing up.

5. Remove Sash Hardware• RemoveTop and Bottom Hinges from Sash.• RemoveSash Bracket from bottom of Sash.• RemoveKeeper(s) from Sash noting difference

between upper and lower keepers.
