Kongphet Saysavanh entered this event, and it’s the world’s larg-

est Sheepshead Tournament with almost 400 boats competing.

The prizes are paid out to the top fifteen finishers, with the grand

prize being an 18 foot Carolina Skiff powered by a 60hp Mercury

engine. Originally Kongphet’s fourth place finish in the event was

moved up to third when the first place winner was disqualified. The

third place prize Kongphet won was a Gheenoe with a 4hp engine.

Not bad for a sheepshead weighing in at 9.25 lbs. The other two

winners did not beat him by much. 1st place was 9.49 and 2

nd place

was 9.29 Kongphet mentioned if his fish would have eaten before

he caught him he could have possibly had the top prize. This event

is held once a year and the first time he entered three years ago

there were only about 250 boats. Congratulations Kongphet from

all of us here at Sea Ray Meridian.

Here is our first 590 push-ing out of Assembly in preparation for the Miami Boat Show. Great job to all involved. The picture below shows a few of the employees who had a hand in the build.

We are already 3 months into 2015 and most of us have already abandoned our new year’s resolutions. Year after year I find myself in the same endless cycle of creating goals and then pushing most of them aside. However, this year I was determined to become financially fit. I am determined every year but this year maybe just a pinch more. As a result, 3 months into the new year and I am astonished at the results of saving a few extra bucks here and there. Personally I feel that this has created a snow ball effect and I am on my way to becoming more financially fit then I was in the last resolution season. These are just a few examples of what I did personally to stop the trickling of money from my ac-counts.

Saving loose change. I am horrible at keeping track of loose change in my pock-ets. I find myself making use of my debit card more often so that I do not en-counter this problem as often.

Keeping track of spending. I am 28 years young so I find myself buying things I want instead of things I need. For instance, restraining myself from buying the latest version of the I-phone when my current one works exactly the same. (Just don’t tell that to my girlfriend)

Coffee in the mornings. I try to make coffee at home because last year I remem-

ber going to the gas station every morning to buy a cup and a few snacks. Doing the math, this number can start to become ridiculous.

Taking advantage of discounts and incentives. There are many ways to take advantage of discounts through work or other incentives for paying bills annually instead of monthly. I find that paying my car insurance annually saves a good amount of money.

Never purchase an expensive item on impulse. If i want something that is expensive, I now give it a day or two before purchasing the item. As a result, I usually find that I talk myself out of buying it.

Eating at home. Eating out is fun, but eating out can also become really expensive.

- Practicing Mindfulness. Just thinking about and thinking through each situation has helped to save more and more money. I understand that everyone is in a different financial situation of their own. However, practice makes perfect and being mindful of every situation that involves money will help.
