2 DHCP Options

Computers are not the only devices that use DHCP. It might be necessary to provide additional information to other end devices. These parameters are set as options.

2.1 Setting options

1. On the “DHCP Management” window, expand “Scope [10.0.0.0], left click, then right click“Scope Options” and select “Configure Options”.

2. This list is used to provide additional information dynamically to devices on the network. Clickon “003 Router”. This is the default gateway setting we set while installing the DHCP role.

9. Type ipconfig /renew and hit “Enter”. The WIN10-B will receive the new reservation address.

Unless specific rules are set up, DHCP and clients operate on a first come first serve basis. The first server to respond to an address request will fulfill the request. Rogue DHCP servers or improperly configured DHCP servers can issue incorrect addressing and cause network complications.
