Mr. Rajesh Dongre COO Vodafone

I was born on 24th June, 1970 in Gwalior, where my grandparents lived, and as my father worked in

Ordnance Factory at Chanda and Khamaria, Jabalpur respectively, I did my schooling from Kendriya

Vidyalaya in these two locations.

I did my Mechanical Engg from GEC in 1987 to 1991 and joined SAIL at Durgapur.

I realized in the first month of being there that I couldn't possibly continue to make Steel for the rest of my

life. So I joined FMS, Delhi for a MBA in Mktg and passed out in 1994.

My campus job was Blow Plast and I did 3 stints at Indore, Pune and Mumbai there, the last two as

Branch Manager.

I left Blow Plast in early 1999 to join GE (SBI Cards) in Mumbai.

Out of sheer trust on someone's assurance that Telecom would grow big time in future, I joined Vodafone

(then Hutchison Max Telecom Limited) in December 1999 and as they say, the rest is history!

I have been in this Organization over 10 years now, doing various stints starting with Sales Manager for

Postpaid Sales in Mumbai, to S&M Head for Gujarat and Mumbai to starting the Mobile Commerce

business for India.

At present, I head the Vodafone Rajasthan Operations as its Chief Operating Officer, and also handle the

Mobile Commerce business for the Country. I am based in Jaipur since Oct 2008.

I am married, my wife teaches in primary school and I have a 10 year old son.

My hobbies are traveling the world, reading and playing golf.
