Special Enforcement Detail

SAFETY FIRST (Gloves, Mask, & be sure you know what you’re

doing)

Five Step Process1.) Remove cap2.) Check and remove obstructions3.) Prepare chemical agent

Identify appropriate chemical agent (Def-Tec 509, 517, 518, 519, 555)

Remove fuze assembly Always hold upright

4.) Attach the chemical agent to the cap5.) Reassemble Gas Ram

Clean after every use

Wear mask and gloves

Three Maintenance Tasks1.) Wash Gas Ram

Pressure Washer with hot soapy water (220 – 240 degrees)

Sandblast Metal brush, bore brush, and hot soapy water (i.e. Tide,

Joy)

2.) Apply anti-seize on threads

3.) Dry completely and store

Deliver with at least a 3 man team (2 Officers to deploy the ram and 1 as cover…Unless you have one of these)

Attempt to avoid deploying in kitchen (gas lines)

Attempt to get the ram high enough to avoid furniture

Pull the pin prior to inserting the ram to ensure agent deploys The other school of thought is to pull pin after to ensure probe is inserted

Just prior to deploying the ram, use distraction techniques on the opposite side of the location (i.e. LSD)
