NATIONAL READ A
BOOK DAY!
September 6th is National
Read a book day. For
some people, reading is
their ultimate form of
relaxation and fun! For
others, reading can seem
like a bit of a chore. No
matter what category you
fall into, we encourage
you to embrace Read a
Book Day.
Here are a few reasons
you should join in the fun and read a book. It is one of the best excuses for peace and quiet. You saw
the movie, but you heard the book is better. A book can change your life. You are going through some-
thing and you need to be lost in a beautiful, made up world. Today’s world is so loud, hyper-connected
and busy so the best way to celebrate this day is by grabbing a good book and getting lost in it. —

“The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” by Charlie Mackesy
This little 2019 hardback book is a gem. It has simple text and ink drawings, and looks almost like a children’s book, but was written for adults. It presents great truths in small packages, like a Winnie the Pooh book does. A boy meets new companions on a walk, and they work out answers to some universal questions. Check it out! — review by Amy Mann, Technical Assistant, Children’s Department
