Dear Apostles of Divine Mercy, The time of harvest is now upon us, and many have completed gathering their fruits and vegetables from their gardens. In September we will celebrate Mary’s Birthday and the Feast of her Seven Sorrows. As she is our Mother let us ask her to intercede for us in our broken world. Also as we prepare for the fall and winter season, this is the time to become more familiar the expectations of Pope Francis for the coming Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. This month’s Newsletter is entitled “Merciful Like the

Father!” On the front cover we have the logo for the Jubilee of Mercy, which is to begin on December 8th. We need time to learn and to prepare ourselves. This newsletter will provide some information as to what Pope Francis is asking of all of us. We have also included the prayer for the Year of Mercy. It is the Pope’s desire that this Jubilee be celebrated in Rome as well as in the local Churches,” Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization that is organizing this year-long event, said at a press briefing in the Vatican on May 5. For the first time in the 600 year history of the Jubilee tradition, “there will be an opportunity for individual dioceses to open a Holy Door—The Door of Mercy—either in the Cathedral or in a church of special meaning or at a shrine of particular importance for pilgrimages,” he stated. The dynamic Vatican archbishop went onto explain that this Jubilee Year is “unique” in several ways compared to past Holy Years, and it is very different from the Great Jubilee Year in 2000. In other words, while it has a Roman dimension this Jubilee Year is to find its main expression and realization at the level of the local churches. It is unique because “it is based upon a theme”: the call to mercy. It builds on the central content of the Gospel message and intends to call the church once again to its missionary priority: “to be a sign and witness (of mercy) in every aspect of its pastoral life.” It is also unique because for the first time in a Jubilee “Missionaries of Mercy” will be designated for every diocese for the whole duration of the Holy Year, but with a special concentration during the period of Lent 2016. More information

will be available on page 5 and in future newsletters.

We also have enclosed the Novena for Our Lady of Sorrows from Sept. 6-14th. by Shirley Oleskiw, EADM Director

OUR EADM CENTRE

Divine Mercy Flags For the Jubilee of

Mercy we have available 3’X5’ Divine Mercy flags at a cost of $35.00 each plus postage. These flags will arrive about the middle of September. Please place

your orders as soon as possible. We would like to see DM Flags flying at every Catholic Church and Catholic School and home in Saskatchewan, as well as many other places in Canada. To display these flags we must be bold and courageous as Catholics.

With the harvest colors in our midst, here at the Centre we are especially blessed to be able to enjoy the flowers of Mary's Garden. On Aug 15th, we celebrated the Assumption of Our Lady by singing hymns and reciting the Rosary in the Garden. Daily Adoration of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament continues here in our Chapel. Many people drive in from out of Regina to come and pray before Our Lord, His Mother Mary, and St. Faustina. On September 8th, Mary’s Birthday, we will have prayers, hymns, and the Rosary from 3:00-4:00 pm at the Chapel. On the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15th, we will have prayers, hymns and the Rosary from 3:00-4:00 pm at the Chapel. Our Guadalupe pilgrimage arrangements have been completed. Please pray for them to have a spiritual experience. Here at our apostolate we have available the Canadian Cenacle Manuals, which can be used as an aid to help us prepare for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. The books contain the lessons to help a person understand God’s mercy, through the eyes of St. Faustina. We began several months ago to place two lessons for study in each newsletter. Many people have contacted us and expressed that they enjoy of the new insights into the Diary. If you want to study and learn more about living the Divine Mercy message, then we challenge you to get a few people together and form a group. If you would like a copy of the first of three manuals, the cost is $10.00 for each book (3) plus postage.

Mass will be held on Thurs. Sept. 3rd. Rosary @6:30

pm. We will pray the Novena to Our Lady of Sorrows at 3:00

pm daily from September 6-14.

(Cont`d from the Inside Cover) He explained that these “Missionaries of Mercy” are to be “patient priests, possessing an understanding of human frailty but ready to express the loving kindness of the Good Shepherd in their preaching and in the Sacrament of Confession.” The local bishops are expected to identify and designate these special missionaries. Archbishop Fisichella’s office will provide guidance to the Bishops’ Conference to help them choose the right people. He believes that the thousands of “emeritus bishops” in the world today, because of their great pastoral experience, could well be suited for this role too. Pope Francis “will give them their mandate on Ash Wednesday”—February 10, 2016—during the celebration in Saint

Peter’s Basilica.

The Archbishop presented the Calendar of Event in Rome during the Jubilee Year. Among those events, there will be a “Jubilee for workers and volunteers of Mercy on 4 September 2016 associated with the memory of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who remains an icon of the mercy of God for millions of people, of all faiths, across the globe. He would not say if this could be the opportune moment for Pope Francis to canonize her. “It is something we all hope for,” he said, in reference to her eventual canonization. It is hoped to hold a special “Jubilee for Prisoners” in St. Peter’s Basilica on 6 November 2016, at which detainees will be present, the archbishop said. Nothing like this has ever happened before in the history of the Jubilee tradition, and the project is still under study. The World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland, (26-31 July 2016) blends in well with the Jubilee Year, he noted, because that gathering will take place around the theme: “Blessed are the Merciful for they will receive mercy.” In addition, he said, there will also be a “Jubilee for young boys and

girls (ages 13-16),” on 24 April 2016.

There will be Jubilee events for other categories of the faithful too, including: Clergy, religious and lay faithful working in sanctuaries and shrines (Jan. 19-21, 2016); Those in Consecrated Life and the closing of the year dedicated to that (Feb. 2); The Roman Curia (Feb. 22); Devotees of the spirituality of Divine Mercy (April 3); Deacons (May 29); Priests (June 3); Those who are ill and persons with disabilities (June 12); Catechists (Sept. 25); A Marian Jubilee (Oct. 8-9); In memory of the faithful departed (Nov. 1). Pope Francis highlighted in the Bull or formal document proclaiming the Jubilee Year, his wishes and expectations. In his

presentation, Fisichella drew special attention to the fact that

“there will significant efforts to enact Pope Francis’s vision and witness of reaching out to those on the existential 'peripheries' of society, in order to give a direct testimony to the Church’s affinity and care for the poor, the suffering, the marginalized, and all those who need a sign of tenderness.”

“These moments will have a symbolic meaning, but we will also ask bishops and priests to perform in their own dioceses similar symbolic gestures of communion with Pope Francis so that everyone may receive a concrete sign of the Church’s ministry of mercy and closeness,” he stated. Furthermore, he said, “As a concrete sign of the Pope’s charitable love, which is an essential component of this Jubilee, effective measures will be taken to meet real needs in the world that will express mercy through tangible assistance.” He did not explain what this might involve. Fisichella revealed that the Pope first talked to him about the Jubilee on 29 August 2014, and said he read it as “an initiative coming from the Holy Spirit." He said the news has sparked great enthusiasm worldwide, and many bishops have written to Francis to express their gratitude. He noted too that the Jubilee Year takes place soon after the synod on the family, and he expected it would take into account those in irregular situations. Indeed, he said, "Mercy is central to the life of the Church, and if the doctrine of the Church is not permeated with mercy it is not the doctrine of the Church". He confirmed that the Jubilee of Mercy will begin when Pope Francis opens the Holy Door of St Peter’s Basilica on 8 December 2015—the 50th anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Council—and will conclude when he closes that

same door on 20 November 2016. Sources: Vatican site

Misericordiae Vultus THE BULL OF INDICTION OF THE EXTRAORDINARY JUBILEE OF MERCY BY POPE FRANCIS: Note from

the editor: In the following article, I only did a summary and used parts of the document, Misericordiae Viultus. In future newsletters we will

study in greater detail the different parts of the document.

1. Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s mercy. These words might well sum up the mystery of the Christian faith. Mercy has become living and visible in Jesus of Nazareth, reaching its culmination in Him. Jesus of Nazareth, by His words, His actions, and His entire person reveals the mercy of God. 2. We need constantly to contemplate the mystery of mercy. It is a wellspring of joy, serenity, and peace. Our salvation depends on it. Mercy: the word reveals the very mystery of the Most Holy Trinity. Mercy: the ultimate and supreme act by which God comes to meet us. Mercy: the fundamental law that dwells in the heart of every person who looks sincerely into the eyes of his brothers and sisters on the path of life. Mercy: the bridge that connects God and man, opening our hearts to the hope of being loved forever despite our sinfulness. 3. At times we are called to gaze even more attentively on mercy so that we may become a more effective sign of the Father’s action in our lives. For this reason I have proclaimed an Extraordinary

Jubilee of Mercy as a special time for the Church, a time when the witness of believers might grow stronger and more effective. ...Mercy will always be greater than any sin, and no one can place limits on the love of God who is ever ready to forgive. I will have the joy of opening the Holy Door on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. On that day, the Holy Door will become a Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instils hope. On the following Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent, the Holy Door of the Cathedral of Rome-that is , the Basilica of Saint John Lateran-will be opened. In the following weeks, the Holy Doors of the other Papal Basilicas will be opened. On the same Sunday, I will announce that in every local church, at the cathedral– the mother church of the faithful in any particular area – or, alternatively, at the co-cathedral or another church of special significance, a Door of Mercy will be opened for the duration of the Holy Year. At the discretion of the local ordinary, a similar door may be opened at

any shrine frequented by large groups of pilgrims, since visits to

these holy sites are so often grace-filled moments, as people discover a path to conversion. Every Particular Church, therefore, will be directly involved in living out this Holy Year as an extraordinary moment of grace and spiritual renewal. Thus the Jubilee will be celebrated both in Rome and in the Particular Churches as a visible sign of the Church’s universal communion . 4. I have chosen the date of 8 December because of its rich meaning in the recent history of the Church. In fact, I will open the Holy Door on the fiftieth anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council. The Church feels a great need to keep this event alive. 5. The Jubilee year will close with the liturgical Solemnity of Christ the King on 20 November 2016. On that day, as we seal the Holy Door, we shall be filled, above all, with a sense of gratitude and thanksgiving to the Most Holy Trinity for having granted us an extraordinary time of grace. We will entrust the life of the Church, all humanity, and the entire cosmos to the Lordship of Christ, asking him to pour out his mercy upon us like the morning dew, so that everyone may work together to build a brighter future. 6….“It is proper to God to exercise mercy, and he manifests his omnipotence particularly in this way”. 7. “For his mercy endures forever.” This is the refrain that repeats after each verse in Psalm 136 as it narrates the history of God’s revelation. 8. With our eyes fixed on Jesus and his merciful gaze, we experience the love of the Most Holy Trinity. The mission Jesus received from the Father was that of revealing the mystery of divine love in its fullness. “God is love.” 9. In the parables devoted to mercy, Jesus reveals the nature of God as that of a Father who never gives up until he has forgiven the wrong and overcome rejection with compassion and mercy. As we can see in Sacred Scripture, mercy is a key word that indicates God’s action towards us. He does not limit himself merely to affirming his love, but makes it visible and tangible. Love, after all, can never be just an abstraction. By its very nature, it indicates something concrete: intentions, attitudes, and behaviours that are shown in daily living. 10. Mercy is the very foundation of the Church’s life. All of her pastoral activity should be caught up in the tenderness she makes present to believers; nothing in her preaching and in her witness to

the world can be lacking in mercy.

11. Let us not forget the great teaching offered by Saint John Paul II in his second Encyclical, Dives in Misericordia. We should take time to study this encyclical. 12. The Church is commissioned to announce the mercy of God, the beating heart of the Gospel. We need to know what is in the Gospels by reading and studying them. 13. We want to live this Jubilee Year in light of the Lord’s words: Merciful like the Father, therefore, is the “motto” of this Holy Year. In mercy, we find proof of how God loves us. He gives His entire self, always, freely, asking nothing in return. He comes to our aid whenever we call upon Him. He comes to assist us in our weakness. And His help consists in helping us accept His presence and closeness to us. Day after day, touched by His compassion, we also can become compassionate towards others. 14.The practice of pilgrimage has a special place in the Holy Year Merciful like the Father, because it represents the journey each of us makes in this life. Life itself is a pilgrimage, and the human being is a viator, a pilgrim travelling along the road, making his way to the desired destination. 15. In this Holy Year, we look forward to the experience of opening our hearts to those living on the outermost fringes of society: fringes which modern society itself creates. It is my burning desire that, during this Jubilee, the Christian people may reflect on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

16. In the Gospel of Luke, we find another important element that will help us live the Jubilee with faith. A “year of the Lord’s favour” or “mercy”: this is what the Lord proclaimed and this is what we wish to live now.

17. The season of Lent during this Jubilee Year should also be lived more intensely as a privileged moment to celebrate and experience God’s mercy. The initiative of “24 Hours for the

Lord,” to be celebrated on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Fourth Week of Lent, should be implemented in every diocese. Let us place the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the centre once more in such a way that it will enable people to touch the grandeur of God’s mercy with their own hands. 18. During Lent of this Holy Year, I intend to send out Missionaries of Mercy. They will be a sign of the Church’s maternal solicitude for the People of God, enabling them to enter

the profound richness of this mystery so fundamental to the faith.

19. May the message of mercy reach everyone, and may no one be indifferent to the call to experience mercy. 20. It would not be out of place at this point to recall the relationship between justice and mercy. These are not two contradictory realities, but two dimensions of a single reality that unfolds progressively until it culminates in the fullness of love. 21. Mercy is not opposed to justice but rather expresses God’s way of reaching out to the sinner, offering him a new chance to look at himself, convert, and believe. 22. A Jubilee also entails the granting of indulgences. This practice will acquire an even more important meaning in the Holy Year of Mercy. God’s forgiveness knows no bounds. 23. There is an aspect of mercy that goes beyond the confines of the Church. It relates us to Judaism and Islam, both of which consider mercy to be one of God’s most important attributes. 24. My thoughts now turn to the Mother of Mercy. May the sweetness of her countenance watch over us in this Holy Year, so that all of us may rediscover the joy of God’s tenderness no one has penetrated the profound mystery of the incarnation like Mary. Her entire life was patterned after the presence of mercy made flesh. The Mother of the Crucified and Risen One has entered the sanctuary of divine mercy because she participated intimately in the mystery of His love. Our prayer extends to the saints and blessed ones who made divine mercy their mission in life. I think especially of the great apostle of mercy, Saint Faustina Kowalska. May she, who was called to enter the depths of divine mercy, intercede for us and obtain for us the grace of living and walking always according to the mercy of God and with an unwavering trust in his love. 25. I present, therefore, this Extraordinary Jubilee Year dedicated to living out in our daily lives the mercy which the Father constantly extends to all of us. In this Jubilee Year, let us allow God to surprise us. In this Jubilee Year, may the Church echo the word of God that resounds strong and clear as a message and a sign of pardon, strength, aid, and love. May she never tire of extending mercy, and be ever patient in offering compassion and comfort. May the Church become the voice of every man and woman, and repeat confidently without end: “Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old” (Ps 25:6). Given in Rome, at St. Peter’s, on April 11, the vigil of Divine Mercy

Prayer for Jubilee of Mercy Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees You sees Him. Show us Your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman:“If you knew the gift of God!” You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests His power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that Your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send Your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and Your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this of You, Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy; You who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows - September 15 Act of Contrition to Our Lady of Sorrows

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having

offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I

dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but

most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who

art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly

resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my

sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

Queen of Martyrs, your soul was greatly troubled in

the ocean of suffering. We beg you by the merits of the tears

you shed in these terrible sorrowful mysteries, to obtain for

us and all sinners of the world, the grace of complete sincerity

and repentance.

To wipe away Mary's tears shed during the Passion of

Jesus, pray: Our Father (3x) Hail Mary (3x) O heart of Mary,

conceived without original sin, yet did suffer so for us, pray

for us who have recourse to thee. (3x)

The Feast Day of the Birth of Mary: September 8 Blessed Catherine Emmerich tells us, “I learned from St. Bridget that if pregnant women fast on the eve of Mary’s birth and say fervently nine Hail Mary’s to honor the nine months she passed in Anne’s womb; if they frequently repeat these prayers during their pregnancy, and especially on the eve of their delivery, receiving then the holy Sacraments devoutly, she will offer their prayers to God herself and bring them through even very critical circumstances to a

happy delivery”. She continues, “I saw the Blessed Virgin on the eve of her Nativity. She said to me: ‘Whoever says this evening’ (Sept. 7th) ‘nine times the Hail Mary lovingly and devoutly to honor the nine months spent in my mother’s womb as also my birth, and continues the same devotion for nine consecutive days, daily gives to the angels nine flowers for a bouquet. This bouquet they bear to Heaven and offer to the Most Holy Trinity to obtain some favor for the one that prays.’” Reference: The Life of Jesus Christ by Blessed Catherine Emmerich

Seven Sorrows of Mary First Sorrow -The Prophecy of Simeon The Blessed Virgin Mary gave God her first born as the law prescribed, and Simeon, led by the Holy Spirit, predicted how a sword of sorrow would pierce her heart. The Blessed Virgin knew that she had given birth to the Savior. She immediately and

clearly understood this. Though her heart was deeply touched by this favor, her heart remained heavy and troubled for she knew what was written about the suffering and the death of the Savior. Whenever she saw Jesus, she was constantly reminded of His suffering.

Our Father (1x) Hail Mary(7x) Virgin Most Sorrowful, Pray for Us!

Second Sorrow - The Flight into Egypt

Mary was greatly troubled when Joseph revealed to her the words of the angel, who said that they should wake up quickly and flee because Herod wanted to kill the Infant Jesus. The Blessed Virgin Mary hardly had time to decide what to take or leave behind. She took the child Jesus, left everything, rushed outside before Joseph so that they could hurry as God wished. Then she said: "Even though God has power over everything, He wants us to flee with Jesus His Son. God will show us the way and we shall arrive without being caught by the enemy." Because the Blessed Virgin was the Mother of Jesus, she loved Him more than anyone else. Her heart was deeply troubled at the sight of the discomfort her Infant Son experienced. Jesus was cold and shivering, and though they were tired, sleepy and hungry during this long travel, her only thought was about the safety and comfort of her Son. She feared coming face to face with the soldiers who had been ordered to kill Jesus, because she was aware that the enemy was still in Bethlehem. Her heart remained constantly anguished during this flight. She also knew that where they were going, there would be no friendly face to greet them.

Third Sorrow - The Loss of Jesus in the Temple

The Blessed Virgin knew God's glory. She, who was most blessed among all others, received the gift of exceptional love, that is, the grace to love her Son far more than most parents love their children. Jesus was the only begotten Son of God, and also the Virgin Mary's Son. The Blessed Virgin loved Jesus more than herself, because He was her God. Compared to other children, He

was a most unique child because He was already living as God. When Mary lost Him on their way back from Jerusalem, the world became so big and lonely that she believed that she couldn't go on living without her Son Jesus, so great was her sorrow. Jesus no longer needed her protection as before. What pained Mary was that Jesus had decided to stay behind without her consent. She knew, however, that her Son always did what was necessary and she never suspected Him of being disobedient.

Fourth Sorrow - Mary Meets Jesus on the Way to Calvary

The Blessed Virgin meets Jesus carrying the cross on which He is to be crucified. See the anguish on her face. John is informing her that Jesus, her beloved Son, is going to be hung on a Cross. Mary sees Jesus carrying the heavy Cross alone—-the Cross on which He is to be crucified. This doesn't surprise the Blessed Virgin, because she already knew about the approaching death of Our Lord Jesus. Already weakened by the numerous hard blows given with the soldier's clubs, His body resembles a corpse carrying the Cross. Simon was made to help Him. The soldiers kept hurrying and pushing Him. Then He falls once more, exhausted, unable to raise Himself. At that moment, Mary's eyes full of tender love and compassion meet His. Their hearts seem to be sharing the load. Nothing can be done except to believe and trust in God, and dedicate that suffering to Him.

Fifth Sorrow - Mary Stands at the Foot of the Cross

The Blessed Virgin Mary met Jesus and continued to climb the mount, following behind Him painfully and sorrowfully with deep anguish, suffering silently. She could see Him staggering and falling with the Cross. She witnessed His being beaten and His hair pulled to force Him to stand up. Upon arrival to Calvary, He was ordered to confess in front of the crowd so that the crowd would laugh at Him. Mary, like Jesus, deeply felt this pain. The Blessed Virgin felt sick at heart at seeing these tyrants crucifying Him naked and so, shaming Him. Jesus and Mary felt more disgraced than we do because they are holy. The Blessed Virgin Mary felt pain beyond bearing when Jesus lay down on the Cross. His murderers, singing, approached Him with hammers and nails, sat on Him, so He would not shake. As they hammered the nails on both hands, Mary felt the blows in her heart. She felt her life fading away. As they proceeded to put the Cross in the hole ready to receive it, they jerked it, and because of its weight, the pain seared all over Jesus' body. He suffered three excruciating hours transfixed to the Cross. He was hurt to the (Cont’d on page 14)

core at seeing His Mother suffering, too. Then Jesus died, with His Blessed Mother called to die with Him in spirit. When His sacred body was taken down from the Cross, it was placed in the arms of His suffering and sorrowing Mother.

Sixth Sorrow - Mary Receives the Dead

Body of Jesus in Her Arms The friends of Jesus, Joseph and Nicodemus, took down the body of Jesus from the Cross and placed it in the arms of the Blessed Virgin. Then, Mary washed it with deep respect and love because

she was His Mother. She knew better than anyone else that He was God, who made Himself the Savior of the people. She could see terrifying wounds because of the flogging He received at the hands of Pilate. His flesh had been torn in strips with pieces removed. All over His body there were gaping wounds. Mary found that the scars and wounds from the nails were less severe than those caused by the flogging and by the carrying of the Cross. His beloved Mother was horrified at the thought that He managed to carry the Cross. She saw that all the wounds on His Head had penetrated to the brain. She found that Jesus' death was far worse than that of the bandits. When she saw Him, she remembered all about Him, from His infancy up to that time, and it filled her with deep anguish and sorrow. Our Blessed Mother continued to be a martyr. She, the Queen of Martyrs, didn't hesitate to give us her Son who became the Savior of all humanity. She prayed that everybody would go to Heaven and that all would truly follow God, so that Jesus' torturous death would not be in vain. The Blessed Virgin Mary prayed for us all.

Seventh Sorrow - Jesus is Placed in the Tomb

The life of the Blessed Virgin Mary was closely linked to that of Jesus and depended on Him. As she witnessed His unspeakable suffering, she heroically joined her suffering to His and offered it to the Father for all souls, in pure humility and obedience to His will. Our sorrowful Mother, with the help of John and the holy women, devoutly placed Him in the sepulcher. Then she went home with great pain, dying at heart with her Son Jesus but with the ardent hope He would resurrect without delay. For the first time she remained without Him. Week Seventeen — Theme: Trust READING ASSIGNMENT TO PREPARE FOR THIS WEEK;

Cenacle Formation Manual Article: “Trust”, Scripture — Ps 56: 1-3; Prov 3:5; Lk 5:5-7, Catechism — #1820-1821 WEEK OVERVIEW

This week’s readings focus on Trust, the hallmark of the message of Divine Mercy. Various Scripture, Catechism, and Diary quotes are used to emphasize the importance of letting God be in control of our daily lives. LEARNING AND DISCUSSION:

1) When in life do we need to turn things over to God and trust? 2) Why is trust easier for a humble person? 3) When do we need trust the most? (Diary, 1777) LESSON GOALS

At the end of the discussion, members should understand: • A deeper understanding of how trust and fear are

incompatible, • How pride can rob us of the virtue of trust, due to lack of

humility, • Trust opens the door to many graces, which we then radiate

out to other souls.

Week Eighteen — Theme: Sinners and My Mercy READING ASSIGNMENT TO PREPARE FOR THIS WEEK;

Scripture — Mt 9: 12-13, Catechism — #1030-1032, Diary,723, 1146,1275, 1396-97, 1521, 1541,1602 WEEK OVERVIEW

The theme of the week is mercy and sin, and various Diary quotes emphasize God’s unfathomable mercy, especially towards the greatest sinner. We should remind ourselves that God’s mercy is greater than our worst sin. LEARNING AND DISCUSSION:

1) Who has the greatest right to His mercy? (Diary, 723) 2) What promise is given to priests who extol the mercy of God? (Diary, 1521) 3) Why is humility so important especially in the workplace? (Diary, 1602); LESSON GOALS

At the end of the discussion, members should understand: • God’s mercy is greater than our worst sin, • God wants us to return to Him in humility through the

Sacrament of Reconciliation, • We never tire of proclaiming His mercy and priests should

extol the mercy of God as hardened sinners will repent on hearing of His mercy.

Billboards Thank you Jesus and our dear sponsors for our billboard campaign! Our moveable billboards continue to be placed

in different locations. Our billboard for July, August & September is located on Angus & 5th Ave. in Regina. This area consists of many poor and under privileged peoples, so may the grace from the Image of Jesus help them in their lives. Look for our billboards, as you travel on vacation this summer. Jesus made many promises to the faithful who would work to spread His Image of mercy throughout the world. If you would like to sponsor a billboard or share the cost with someone else, please let us know. Say a prayer of thanksgiving for the success of this project.
