OUR VENUE
Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts are two of the South East’s most dynamic venues. We present and produce some of the best UK and International artists and companies, supporting the development of new work, commissioning and incorporating resident companies, as well as house a full time cinema and visual arts programme. We also produce the annual Newbury Comedy Festival – a key date on the comedy calendar – and an in-house annual Pantomime.
Corn Exchange is our main house and cinema, situated in the historic market
place in the centre of Newbury. New Greenham Arts, our 120-seat studio space,
also housing a gallery and artist studios, is an 8 minute drive away in New
Greenham Park, Greenham Common.

“ What a great programme! I will defi nitely be coming back – and telling all my friends”
A customer who had never been to the Corn Exchange before recently took the time to tell me this enthusiastically following an event. It’s great that so many of our regular supporters and attendees share their experiences, but it’s particularly rewarding to hear this from someone new to the venue.
So we leave behind our 15th year when we sold 8,000 more tickets than in the previous year and I hope this is in no small part due to our efforts to make the Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts somewhere special. Places where you can experience world-class artists, fi rst performances, specially-commissioned or supported pieces, and some of the best music and entertainment touring the UK today. And it’s all here this season – there are actually more than 101 days of events right on your doorstep!
Along with my team here I hope you will feel inspired to pay us a visit, enjoy the thrill of a live show, and make the most of this terrifi c venue in its beautiful setting. I also hope that you may be able to help support us by joining our membership scheme and helping to ensure the future of the venue and its activities; please see the leafl et enclosed with your brochure or pick one up from the foyer.
I look forward to welcoming you.

DANCE
WORLD PREMIERECORN EXCHANGE CO-COMMISSION
VINCENT DANCE THEATRE PRESENTS
IF WE GO ON DIRECTED AND DESIGNED BY CHARLOTTE VINCENT
TEXT BY WENDY HOUSTOUN COMPOSED BY ALEX CATONA
Friday 2 October | 7.45pm (ends 9.15pm, no interval) | Corn Exchange
Through miniature dances and stuttering songs, militant manifestos and extended exits, If We Go On embraces uncertainty, hesitancy and not knowing with a dark, intelligent humour. An exceptional ensemble of multi-tasking performers and musicians morph words into movement, shunt gesture into sound and at times burst into song to create a performance they can believe in.
If We Go On asks: if you had one last dance left in you, what shape would it take? Brave, intelligent entertainment The Times
Age guide: 15+ | Tickets: £12 (£10 concs, limited availability)
bgroup PRESENTS
THIS MOMENT IS
YOUR LIFERecreating a world of 70s disco grooves and glitter, big fl ares and big hair award-winning choreographer Ben Wright takes you on a hysterical journey in his cult entry for the Semi fi nals of the 2008 Place Prize.
Wright has directed movement work for many leading dance, opera and theatre companies, including performing with Adventures in Motion Pictures (AMP)A giddily energising exercise in audience involvement Metro
bgroup PRESENTS
ABOUT AROUND
Thursday 12 November
7pm (ends 8pm)
8.30pm (ends 9.30pm)
Corn Exchange
Following on from the critical success of bgroup’s fi rst programme, The Diminishing Present, choreographer Ben Wright presents a distinctive new work. Paying reference to the timeless tradition of a circular gathering, about around seats its audience in a ring of chairs. The dancers enact a sequence of events that chart the passing of an hour, exploring ritualistic conventions from primitive to modern day. The result, is an intimate and spellbinding experience, bringing you so close to the skin of the performance, you are almost within it. If you’re looking for something that’s both new and impressive then this could be your best bet Time Out
Tickets: £11 (£9 concs)
DANCE
Funded by Arts Council England; Co-commissioned by Sheffi eld Theatres, Corn Exchange Newbury, Hull City Arts and Peak Performances@Montclair State University; Supported by The Junction Cambridge and Danceworks UK.
2FACED DANCE COMPANY PRESENT
STILL BREATHING After the critical acclaim and sell out success of State of Matter (a smash hit at the Corn Exchange last autumn) the award-winning 2FaCeD DaNcE return with a highly charged, gritty new work, choreographed by Artistic Director Tamsin Fitzgerald. Stunning
athleticism, explosive breaking and masculine vulnerability combine in a piece which explores the
space we occupy. Set to an electrifyingly intense and specially
commissioned score this is an hour of unstoppable - seemingly impossible - movement performed by the all male company.A force to be reckoned with The Scotsman ★★★★
An awe inspiring experience Metro
