We would like to invite you to a guided process of three-dimensional exploration through the art of sculpture.

Sculpting stimulates creativity and a natural experience of the world. Most of us, young or old, are bombarded night and day by technology including smart phones, computers and television. Consequently we experience life in a very fast and flat manner. The ancient art of sculpting reconnects us to a slower, more reflective, creative and three-dimensional mode of interacting with the world, and therefore provides balance to our otherwise hectic, information focused extreme. Sculpting produces a host of benefits including: immersed and heightened concentration; greater and more acute observational skills; immersed hand eye co-ordination/connection; improved self-esteem and mastery; and a more fulsome connection to our world. It also creates excitement!

Children’s art workshops, focusing on sculpture using clay, will be hosted on Saturday from 2 pm until 7 pm and Sunday from 11 am until 6 pm. Feel free to drop by any time during these hours!

With special guest:A Master Monster Maker, Katherine Piro, presents a multimedia-monster workshop.

I am showing a small collection of pieces from 2010 and 2011. Each has its own theme and furthermore, a story. These stories are what I enjoy writing and drawing. And the stories always change, like my artwork.

I enjoy working with pen and ink as well as watercolor paints. I’ve had solo shows at Delight Chocolate Shop and Sleeping Giant Gallery, and I’ve participated in group exhibits including the Narwhal Gallery Christmas Show.  [email protected]

“...and then the work I started from nothing begins to guide me.Strangely enough, in this wonderful moment, it’sas though I’ve just gotten rid of myself.”

Wojtek Biczysko is a sculptor and a passionate kids educator.

In 1991, he made Toronto his home.

In the work “Presence” he explores the illusive territory, where solid and material “ego-reality”,meets the ephemeral realm inhabited by beings made of light and energy.

I was born in Braila, Romania on the Danube River shores. During childhood, I spent a lot of time by the water collecting driftwood and old animal bones polished by water and sand. Mother Nature’s shapes and forms and how they are recycled fascinated me and in my attempt to imitate her creations, I discovered my passion for art and sculpture. Years later, I studied mechanical engineering at the polytechnic institute of Bucharest and made Toronto my home in 1994. After taking courses at TSA and OCAD, I embarked on a journey of creating three-dimensional shapes utilizing engineering tools to materialize my imagination. The most interesting shapes and concepts are in us. Looking inside for inspiration, I discovered the microcosm of primordial elements. “TAC the Cluster Light System” is an inspiration from Tetrahedral Amorphous Carbon, the element known since antiquity, part of the simplest Organic Compound, CH4.

Since ancient ages humans have relied on the bodies and hides of great beasts for nourishment, clothing as well as spiritual power. Modern living has not diminished this dependence, isolating products from their primal sources, burying attitudes of respect and gratitude behind notions of entitlement and necessity. Industrial society mistakes beautiful creatures for raw materials, a resource for the taking. This tree rises up as a celebration of hope for a more connected and conscious way of living with our fellow creatures; where that which is used is used completely and people rejoin the natural order.

The Tintype Studio revisits a historical photographic tradition, creating unique images on a ridged metal surface within minutes of the photograph being taken. As far back as the 1850’s, traveling photographic pioneers would set up studios at outdoor events to offer the public the chance to have their likeness preserved on a tintype photograph. The Tintype Studio revives this process in its traditional context, the outdoor fair, by offering a fun, participatory, and retro take on the instant photograph. Visitors can have their portrait taken using an historical wet-plate camera and processed onto a tintype plate while they wait. The Tintype Studio’s portrait service and period-style booth give the public a chance to experience a chapter in the history of photography and take a piece home with them.
