September 4, 2016
There will be no teen devo tonight due to it being
Labor Day weekend.
We have been invited as a congregation, to take part in an Alvin community effort
called: Adopt-A-Cop. Individuals or families are asked to pray specifically each day for
one of our city Police officers. Prayer, both personal and corporate has always been an important part of the Westside family and
this program provides an opportunity for us to expand our ministry of prayer. If you
would like to participate in this, please take one of the information/sign-up sheets (one
per family or individual) that are on the
table in the foyer. Fill this out and place it in the box provided. Rayford will get these turned in, then you will be contacted by a representative with the program. Note:
You can chose an officer you may already know or they will assign one of the
officers to you.
There will be a Young Families Fishing Day at the Texas Sea Center in Lake Jackson on Saturday, Sept. 17th, from 9am to 11am.
This event is free. Please see Richie for more details.
There will be a Youth Group Planning Luncheon on Sunday,
Sept. 18th, immediately following morning services.
We will have a sandwich bar for lunch. See Richie for more details.
Those to remember in prayer…
Howard Johnson has done very well after having a
stint placed in a blocked artery and was able to return
to Bay Area Rehab. Hospital last Tuesday to continue
physical therapy on his knee. He is in room 1130.
Betty Shoemake continues to have a lot of pain in
her right hip and leg. She had a MRI done last
Wednesday and will receive the results this Thursday,

Charlene Berryman, Don Ber ryman’s mother , has
begun a new chemo. She is still experiencing a lot of
pain and is very weak. Wiley Berryman, Don
Berryman’s father, had one of his carotid arteries
cleaned out last Monday which went very well and he
was able to return home on Tuesday.
Charles Huckabee feels like the infusion treatment
that he has been receiving at Kindred Hospital is
definitely helping his breathing. This new treatment
is expected to make his heart muscle stronger and so
far seems to be working. He will stay in the hospital
through the weekend as they slowly take him off the
medicine.

deal of difficulty with her high risk pregnancy.
Richard Morris will be having a heart catheterization
and an ablation on Friday, Sept. 9th, at St. Luke’s
Medical Center.

past Friday.

much better and was able to return to A&M last
Sunday and started classes on Monday.

To our family at
Westside,
Thank you all for the cards, words
of encouragement and most of all
the prayers during Scott’s
treatments. Thanks also to those
who took over teaching for me.
We are now in the waiting phase
and Scott will have a PET scan in
early October. Please continue to
pray that the treatments were
successful.
Love to all,
Ann & Scott
