niGHT TiME COMPUTERS…iT’S THE RiGHT TiME (AnD PLACE)
By Ron Stafford
If your PC suddenly crashes or is in-vaded by a pesky virus or malware, call Night Time Computers in Chester to help restore your computer…and your sanity. Owner Fred Long and his team of five computer professionals are ex-perts in their field and can assist with any PC needs that arise. Fred’s knowl-edge of computers and their repair and installation dates back to 1997, and the Chester store has sold and serviced computers since April 2009. Fred and his team of techni-cians, who all have backgrounds in in-formation technology, are able to deal with a range of customer needs. “Everyone will have a problem with their computer at some time,“ he says. “I want our customers to trust us, and to know they are paying for exactly what they need, nothing more. We will give them honest answers, and we can go to their location so they don’t have to lug computers around in their cars.” In addition to standard PC problem-solving, Night Time Computers’ staff also specializes in the support of hardware and software systems and pro-gram development specifically designed to meet the needs of each individual customer. To provide a full complement of computers services, Fred and his staff have experience with networks, including how to set up and maintain network applications and servers, routers, hubs and switches. With the current state of the economy, Fred knows it’s important for businesses to make a powerful connection with their customers. In acquiring this business, he had a sense of strong idealism, which quickly turned into reality. Fred intends to grow his business and be able to serve an even larger segment of the community. “I would love to see three more stores in addition to this location.” Fred is focused on putting the right service people in the right places to better serve his customers. “Service-oriented calls are our bread and butter. We want everyone to say that Night Time Computers is number one when it comes to servicing computers,“ Fred noted. To improve the customer experience, Fred is looking at making sev-eral enhancements to the recently acquired business. He finds the company name is sometimes confusing since it implies his company only makes night-time service calls. In fact, business hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 8pm and Saturdays from 10am-3pm. He also is looking at expanding his hours of operation and revamping the company’s website. Fred is especially pleased to be a sponsor of the Kent Island Youth Soccer League. He proudly displays a team jersey with Night Time Comput-ers listed as a sponsor on the back. Ultimately, Fred wants to be the kind of community computer store that customers can trust. He believes that by meeting at the customer’s loca-tion, fixing only what’s needed, and leaving the customer with a sense that the job will be done right the first time, the community will embrace Night Time Computers as its “hometown” computer store. For more information, call Fred at 1-800-278-4616 or visit his website at www.nighttimecomputers.com. You can also drop by the store, which is lo-cated on the corner of Route 18 and Route 552 (Dominion Road) in Chester.

A Community that Cares
Brought to you by: Queenstown Collision, 882 Del Rhodes Ave., Queenstown, 410-827-0701.
September prize drawing furnished by Queenstown Collision Center.
“What’s a community activity that you refuse to miss?”
Dana Seman, an employee of The Red Zone Pizzeria located just off Route 213 in Centreviile, cannot miss the July 4th fireworks every year. Having grown up in Centreville and currently in her se-nior year at Queen Anne’s County High School, she enjoys seeing her classmates there every summer and being among her family as well.
Travis Baxter, an employee of West Ma-rine in Chester, says he absolutely cannot miss the annual Crab Feast held in the Cloverfields community of Stevensville. He just attended this year’s event earlier this month on the 10th, and he’s been going there for the last 3 to 4 years. Travis, a senior at Kent Island High School, started working for West Marine in March of this year, and he enjoys it. He’s looking for-ward to graduating next year.
Rita Ritter, manager of Pick n’ Paint Pottery located in the heart of Centreville, enjoys the local parades that occur every year, as well as the various summer camps done so well by the county. Rita is pictured in this photo with Nancy Kilby, an in-house painter and volun-teer with Pick N’ Paint. (Rita is on the right). The business has been in existence for 7 1/2 years, and also specializes in holding after-school events and home parties for those wanting to learn how to paint pottery and more.
Missy Creighton, owner of Trinkets in Queen-stown, has been to the Chesapeake Bay Wine Festival for the past few years, and enjoys the interaction with fellow business owners from her community. Trinkets is located next door to the Christmas Goose, and has been open to the public for the last 4 months. Missy, who has a background of 20 years in retail, says the store is doing well, now that the routine of school is back in full swing.
The owner of Crazy Chicks Salon in Ches-ter, Becky Elmendorf, enjoys the festivities of Kent Island Day every year. She enjoys the friendliness of the event and also the local flavor it brings out of the community. The salon has been in business for 2 1/2 years now, and she is looking forward to seeing more of her customers at future Kent Island Days.

David Wheeler Honda Kia and Queen Anne’s County schools are teamed up for a raffle to help local students. According to Grant Thomas, sales manager at David Wheeler, “Due to budget cuts and the economy Queen Anne’s county public schools now have to charge students a $100 fee for each after school activity. This includes sports, band, theater, etc. So we have created the Support Our Students raffle to raise money for the students and their families to supplement the fee. If we can just reduce it to $50 to $70 per child with our raffle it will be a big help. We hope to sell enough tickets to get rid of it entirely.” Tickets can be purchased at various businesses throughout Queen Anne’s County. Prizes in the raffle include a day at Swan Cove Day Spa, a fishing charter from Southpaw Fishing Charters, golf for four at Queenstown Harbor Links, a day at Salon Herberto, and a Sunday football party from Dominos. For more information and to find locations you can purchase tickets, contact Kathy Easter at Queen Anne’s County Schools – 410-758-2403 Ext. 148 or 198. The raffle drawing will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd.
RAFFLE BUCKETS ARE LOCATED AT THE FOLLOW-ING LOCATIONS: Doc’s Riverside Grille, Fisherman’s Crab Deck, Drapers Liquors, Bakers Liquors, Bay County Moose Lodge #831, Centreville Liquors, Queen Anne’s Chamber of Commerce, Salon Herberto.

SCHWinKY - Santa’s Little Helper Christmas Toy Drive
By Wilma RubockThe Schwink family is organizing a toy drive in loving memory of their son and brother, Michael Clark Schwink. Parents Pat and Glenn and brother Chris and his wife Laura need your help in bringing Christmas joy to kids with cancer who must spend the holidays in a hospital. Mike was a 23-year-old firefighter and certified EMT from Queen Anne’s County and a 2003 graduate of Kent Island High School. He passed away in 2009 after an 18-month battle with melonama. Mike had an incredible love of children and a special fondness for Christmas. He loved playing Santa and watching the kids’ faces light up and listening to them laugh. What better way to honor his memory then a toy drive for special children and their families.
The Schwink Drive is looking for new toy donations, books, coloring books, crayons, dvds, and other toys or activities for children through the age of 17. Collections have started and will continue through December 2. Collection boxes are located at various businesses and organizations (see sidebar for location of boxes). The Schwinks will deliver the toys to The Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. The Schwink’s also are collecting used family books and movies, dvds, Wii games and x-box games to be given to the Ronald McDonald House at the hospital. They can be placed in the same collection box and should be marked for the Ronald McDonald House. If you have any questions, please call a member of the Schwink family at 410-643-3926.
