the Ice House Mall.

We are pleased to have Tracy Albert as the featured artist at the BCAC Gallery at the Ice House Mall for the month of September.
Tracy received a BA from Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin and MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois. In addition, she studied at the Art
Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University. She is also a member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.
Tracy has taught art for 34 years in the public school system. Currently, she is teaching in a private art school. Over the years, she has studied and exhibited her artwork in Austria, France and Norway. She has artworks in private collections in those countries. She has had the wonderful experience of painting in Giverny, France, Claude Monet’s home. She is passionate about watercolor and never ceases to be excited when the loaded brush first touches the paper. She loves to witness the explosion of color, wet on wet. Tracy is drawn to flowers as subject matter as well as portraits. Lately, Tracy has been revisiting her love of portraiture after spending many years creating portraits at art fairs and private establishments. She has also been devoting more time to working in oils on canvas.

Ann Feldman is taking the month off
from writing her column in order to take part in
the out of town wedding of her daughter.
“Art Notes by Ann”, will return in October.
Celebrations! Kimberly Butts will be participating in a pop-up gallery, Unique Boutique–Women giving back through art, at Mixin Mingle, 124 Cass Street, Woodstock, IL on September 16, 6:00 - 9:00 PM and September 7, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The event will benefit The Turning Point Women’s Shelter in Woodstock.
Congratulations to Chuck Sisson, whose artwork is on display at the 2nd-floor gallery of the Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich, IL for the month of September.
Good luck to Gloria Zucaro who entered two oil paintings and a pastel in the ART CENTRE 2016, a juried art show with the Artist Association of Elk Grove Village. She will receive notice of her acceptance in September. Gloria says “I encourage BCAC members to come to the opening reception, and to possibly enter this wonderful show next year. Ribbons and many monetary prizes, ranging from $50.00-$300.00 are awarded.” An Opening Reception will be held on Friday, October 14, 7:00 - 9:00 PM, at the Elk Grove Village Library, 1001 Wellington Avenue in Elk Grove Village. Show hours are Saturday, October 15, from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, and Sunday, October 16, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.

BCAC Happenings Plein Air Demonstration
BCAC Member, Lee Radtke demonstrated his Plein Air painting technique on Saturday, June 25, 2016, outside our Main gallery location at the Ice House Mall. His finished painting (shown below) is on display and is for sale at the IHM Gallery.
Member’s Picnic The hot and humid weather on Sunday, July 24, 2016, didn't keep members from attending a BCAC picnic. A delicious potluck luncheon, cold drinks, and good conversation were enjoyed. Thanks go to Catherine Nealey for graciously hosting BCAC’s picnic at her home.

Stuart Fullerton will be demonstrating a portrait in oil with a discussion of the key points of painting the human head. Stuart grew up in North Central Wisconsin and studied Ancient Greek and Latin at Harvard College. After a year of studying Archeology, in Greece and Turkey, he returned to Harvard for law school. Today, Stuart works and paints in Chicago. He is a long-time member of the Palette and Chisel Club and of the Plein Air Painters of Chicago. He has studied with such wonderful artists as: Dan Gerhartz, Max Ranft, Scott Tallman Powers, Ralph Oberg, Skip Whitcomb, Clayton Beck, and Romel de la Torre. Stuart has been accepted into juried shows, including: the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition, Salon International, The American Impressionist Society Show, the OPA Eastern Regional Exhibition, and the Bosque Art Classic. He has been invited to take part in the Door County Plein Air Festival, the Carmel Plein Air Festival, and others. Stuart is a member of the board of directors of the Oil Painters of America, and of the Palette and Chisel Club.

Portrait Painting Wednesdays
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM $35 plus $10 model fee BCAC Gallery, Ice House Mall 200 Applebee Street, Barrington Learn the basics of oil painting: color, value, edges, paint quality, and composition. Paint form with a deeper understanding of how light flows, shadows fall, and the atmosphere of a painting. Discussions, demonstrations and individual attention will be given. Students of all levels are welcome. This is an ongoing class, come when it’s convenient for you.

Diane began painting when she was 11 years old. She attended the American Academy of Art and has been a member of The Palette & Chisel for over 25 years. She has attended numerous workshops with master painter David A Leffel. Diane brings her many years of experience as an artist, as well as a desire to share her talents and knowledge with others.

Art Challenge September’s Art Challenge is up at the gallery. The still life depicts a traveler. Has she just returned, or is she getting ready to leave? How to interpret the scene is up to you! Stop in the gallery, with your choice of art materials, to paint or draw this display.
New MembersSandra Peek
I was born and raised in Wisconsin, being influenced by the beautiful rural culture of the Midwest. I have always had a love of art, creating in grade school and high school, however, did not have any formal training until moving to Forest Lake and discovering the Studio in the Woods. I began taking lessons there with Bonnie Anderson and when the Studio closed I began taking lessons at the Mainstreet Art Center in Lake Zurich under the teaching of Frankie Johnson and still attend classes to this day.
I have been painting for over 30 years now in oils, pastels and recently taken up watercolors. I began dabbling in watercolors at the Ela Senior center under the direction of Joyce Klug and took over the leadership of the group a couple of years ago. I am still learning but truly prefer the oil painting experience.
I am a member of the Long Grove Artists Guild and the Lake County Artist League. My paintings are in many private collections throughout the country. I have done many portraits in pastels for family, friends and co-workers.
