PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Myakka Chapter Members:

Welcome to the 2013 ‐ 2014 season.  Hopefully this letter finds everyone in good health and busy at their work.

I hope everyone is having a great summer even with all the heat and rain we have been having.  The fall season is almost here and I am looking forward to better weather and some football.

I am honored to serve as President of the FES Myakka Chapter along with our new officers: Vice President:  Millard Yoder, P.E., Secretary: Carlyn O’Rielly, P.E., Treasurer: James Jackson, E.I., and State Director: Scott Parrish, P.E.   I am looking forward to working with our Officers and our members.

One of our goals for the upcoming year and going forward is to encourage our

members to get involved and to participate in the events and luncheons.  We

have our first luncheon scheduled for September 11, 2013 at the Holiday Inn ‐

Lakewood Ranch, with a Guest Speaker, Jon Thaxton, Director of Community

Investment of Gulf Coast Community Foundation.   In October we have our

Annual Golf Tournament on October 18, 2013 at University Country Club, which

is the source of our scholarship funding.  We need our members support and

sponsorships, so please sign‐up for these events and let us have another

successful Golf Tournament this year!

Another event that is already scheduled for February 7, 2014 is MATHCOUNTS.  We depend on our members for the funding of this event and appreciate your generous donations. Also, if you would like to volunteer at this exciting event, please let us know, we can use your help.  This is a fantastic event and volunteering would be most rewarding, as you see your Chapter at work within the local community.

Thank you,

Robert Gomez, P.E.
