you might become not only a consumer, but also a contributor, one who doesn't just expect to be served, but also desires to serve.
One last thought, about the fall and this upcoming ministry season; in many ways fall is a time of transition, a time when people re-establish regular routines and establish new ones. Fall is a sort of new year for many people, a time when new people may be moving into the area and a time when new or (may be not so new) people are seeking a church home. September is a great time to invite your unchurched family, friends, neighbors and coworkers to come to worship services with you. During this time of the year, people are making transitions and many are more open to making transitions in other areas of their lives as well. Invite them to church, build relationships with them and pray for them. Help them transition into a meaningful relationship with Jesus.
Okay, so my last thought wasn't really my last thought....sorry, please, forgive me! You might have heard by now, that we have begun our search for a new youth minister and while this is a very good thing that has the potential to really help our church and build on the foundation that already exists, it is by no means the tool that fixes everything. What I'm getting at, is that we need you! We need you to pray for this search process, as we try to discern the leading and will of God, that we would hire the right person to lead the youth program at WWCC. But, just as important, we need you to be willing to be involved in our youth program, both now and in the future, because a youth minister is only one person and cannot do everything himself or be everywhere. I ask that you prayerfully consider how you personally could help to grow the youth program of our church and be of service to these young people, who are the present AND future of our church.
Blessings,
Chad
The early fall weather, consisting of cool mornings and evenings and the refreshing breezes, that we've had this August, reminds us that whether we like it or not, summer is almost over. The kids have gone back to school, Labor Day, the unofficial end to summer, is just around the corner and summer vacations are beginning to come to an end. Fall means many things, to include sweatshirt weather, football and the ministries of the church shifting into another gear. Summer is good; vacations, rest, travel, family, picnics, fireworks and a whole bunch of other wonderful activities and experiences, and summer has been good for our church as well. We sent eight students to summer camp at Camp Rudolph, which is more than our church has sent in several years. Several people worked hard to coordinate, plan and chaperone some fun and exciting youth trips. The middle/high school youth group began meeting again and enjoyed some fun activities of their own. We had a great experience of getting outside of our building to share the love of God, as we sponsored and hosted a Waynesboro Generals Game and we got to celebrate with the team as they went on to win the Valley League Baseball Championship. In spite of an overcast sky, cooler temperatures and some scattered showers, we enjoyed a great time of fellowship and picnic at the Dunlap Farm (some even did some swimming!). We also had a wonderful Vacation Bible School, made possible by a whole lot of wonderful workers, who love God and love children. Summer is good, but now it's time to focus on the fall.
This fall at WWCC I hope and pray that you will become involved in one or more of the ministries, that are continuing or starting up, ministries that are designed to help you to connect with others and grow in your faith, as you seek, serve and worship the Lord Jesus Christ. Be sure to check out the rest of this newsletter and of course the weekly bulletin or website, for all that is going on in our church this fall and prayerfully consider how God would have you to get involved. Consider how

ThursdayMorning Ladies’ Bible Study This group will begin meeting again on September 5th from
10-12 noon in the fellowship hall for prayer, fellowship, and discussion. Ladies of all ages are invited. The group is starting a study of the Book of Titus at this time. If you have questions or wish to join, see Carolyn Fitzgerald. Study guides need to be ordered for those who are joining the group.
On Sunday, Sept. 22nd, we will begin a 31-week church-wide experience called “The Story.”
The Story is an exciting new church-wide experience that unites and equips
participants as they engage the Bible. Reading like a novel, The Story offers a seamless, compelling narrative. Condensed into 31 accessible chapters, The Story sweeps readers into an unfolding chronological progression of Bible characters and events.
On Wednesday nights during our EQUIP U programming, we will be going deeper into the story. The adults will be using a DVD based study, “Getting To The Heart Of God’s Story.” Participant’s guides will be available to aid us along this 31 - week journey. There will be a suggested donation, to be given to the Wednesday night offering, to cover the expense of these books. We are also in the process of setting up youth classes for pre-school, elementary and Middle/High School, so that the finding of your story in God’s story, can be a journey we take as a family.
If you ordered “The Story” chronological Bible for the super cheap price of $5.00, it should arrive soon. If you have not yet paid for your Bible(s), you can give your money to Chad, Joann or Lyle. If you missed out on the opportunity to order one, don’t worry, we ordered a few extras. If you would like one, please, let the office know ASAP.
