The light of the dayAs the sun sets across this vast country, we are among the last
Canadians to enjoy the remains of the day.
On Thursday, Aug. 23, as the last light faded over the Pacific Ocean, Victoria News photojournalists were wrapping up an assignment in which we recorded moments in the lives of the people who make up the community of Esquimalt.
From dawn to dusk, we spread out across the municipality capturing images of people at work, play and home.
At the end of this year’s edition of Day in the Life of Esquimalt, you’ll see this truly is a place where people live life to the fullest. You’ll also catch a glimpse of Esquimalt-past, in photos from a century of lives lived in this seaside community. Our thanks to the Esquimalt Archives for providing these special moments in time.
But first, of course, we must start with the beginning, after the sun has risen and we begin the routines that make up our day.
— Laura Lavin, Day in the Life of Esquimalt editor
