When you enter our property off of Britton Road, the firstthing you see is the shrine dedicated to Mary in front of therectory, behind the sign that welcomes you to St. Stephen Church.Mike Haburay must have spent many hours working on it while I

was away on vacation because it looks great with the new largestones that encircle it & with some of the old shrubbery removed.I believe there is also a walkway that will be installed as well. Ourparish thanks Mike and Deacon Pete for a job well done! It will beenjoyed for years to come by people who enter our sacred spacehere in West Salem.

We also thank Bev Zeigler who volunteered to coordinatethe Parish Picnic that we had last Sunday. We had a nice numberof people who enjoyed food, games & just the chance to sit around& talk to fellow members of the parish. The tables & chairs wereset up under the pine cone trees & God gave us a beautiful day toenjoy the outdoors. Thanks to Bev & to all who broughtsomething. Well have details soon of the campfire & hayrides

that will be coming up in October.Life is always a mixture of good news & bad, ofblessings & the need for prayer. Lois Yehlik is one of those inneed of your prayers as she faces treatment for cancer that wasdiscovered when she was about to have knee surgery. Frank &Lois have been parishioners for a long time & it wasnt too long

ago that Frank recovered from knee surgery. They will be keepingme informed of the plan to attack this illness and your prayers arevery much needed & appreciated. Please say a prayer right now &ask Our Lady Help of the Sick to intercede on Loiss behalf.

We also turn to the one who prays for us now and at the

hour of death as we fondly remember Lois Soria who passed

away and whose Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated this pastWednesday. Lois had just entered hospice a few days before shewas called home to God. She and Patrick used to attend biblestudy on Thursday mornings with Fr. Uhler and she had a greatdevotion to the Divine Mercy. She had been using a walker & wason oxygen for some time, but faithfully came to church with Pat.May she rest in the peace of that Divine Mercy.
