STANDARDS ORGANIZATIONS
AATCC, American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists-provides test method development, quality control materials, publications, educational programs, and professional networking for its members around the world. AATCC is best known for developing and publishing international standards for fi bers, fabrics, and fi nished goods. These standards cover ID and analysis; biological, colorfastness, dyeing, wet processing, laundering and dry-cleaning, moisture management, water and weather resistance, and physical properties; carpet testing, and e-textiles.• aatcc.org
ASTM International-international standards development organization and solutions provider, including test methods, specifi cations, guides and practices for textiles. ASTM Committee D13 on Textiles actively develops standards that improve the safety, reliability and quality of textile products, including, fi bers, yarns and fabrics, components, end products, UV protection and smart textiles. ASTM also offers technical training and profi ciency testing services for textiles• astm.org/Standards/textile-standards.html
IEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-develops international standards that underpin many of today’s telecommunications, information technology, and power-generation products and services. More than 423,000 IEEE members – engineers, scientists, and allied professionals whose technical interests are rooted in electrical and computer sciences, engineering, and related disciplines come from over 160 countries.• ieee.org
IPC, Association Connecting Electronics Industries, IPC D-72 E-Textiles Materials Subcommittee-developing an industry standard for e-textiles materials. IPC-4931, Requirements for Electronic Textiles, Conductive Fibers and Conductive Yarns will establish the classifi cation system, qualifi cation and quality conformance requirements and electrical/electronic performance requirements for electronically-integrated textiles.• ipc.org
ISO, International Organization for Standardization- independent, non-governmental member organization and developer of voluntary International Standards. ISO/TC 38 Textiles is the technical committee for textiles. ISO standards ensure that textile products are safe, reliable and of good quality.• iso.org
