Educational Objectives By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Review the mechanism(s) of action, dosing, common side effects and clinical prescribing pearls of
the most common oral and injectable diabetic medications.
2. Identify current technologies for treating diabetes including insulin pumps, Continuous Glucose
Monitoring, glucose meters, and mobile applications.
3. Discuss patient selection and engagement for using current diabetes technologies.
4. Utilize specific motivational tools that benefit patient self-‐management education.
5. Explain the 3 models of health education offered at the Health Education for Wellness Center at
Northern Navajo Medical Center.
