General information
Creditor Identification (CI) yes For the Italian banking community, the creditor identifier is a
code made of 23 digits:
• Digits 1-2: ISO country code for Italy (IT) as the country issuing
the creditor identifier.
• Digits 3-4: check digits calculated in compliance with the MOD
97-10 (ISO 7064) algorithm
• Digits 5-7: business code of the creditor, which is particularly
needed for companies with more than a branch. It can be cus-
tomized by the creditor and the standard value is “ZZZ”.
• Digits 8-23: national identifier for the creditor, which contains
the tax number assigned to the creditor by the Italian Tax Agen-
cy. The code is right-aligned, with 5 leading zeroes when the Tax
Number is either a temporary Tax Number or a VAT number (both
are 11-digits long).

ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL SERVICES
please describe the adopted additional ser-
vices (e.g. SEDA for Italy)
yes, Italian Banking Association
(ABI) currently offers SEDA process
for Italian banks only
- Routing of the SCT
- The implementation process of the SEDA service has to be
defined.
ABI is currently defining the mandate alignment service SEDA
which is an AOS for SDD schemes which aims at implementing
into SEPA the standard features of the Archives Electronic Align-
ment (AEA). It will never be mandatory for creditor customers.
For this reason, any customer could start processing SEPA DD
on the basis of existing RID mandates without using SEDA and,
optionally, decide to utilize it later or not at all.
Since SEDA is registered as an AOS, this could be made available
to the whole SEPA community but the procedure to exchange
electronic flows between a beneficiary and Italian debtors’ banks
through a SEDA provider located in a foreign country has not
been defined yet (banks have to be connected to the local clear-
ing house engine).
