GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR JL-900 SNOW WHITE INSTALLATION

SNOW WHITE BASE FRAMEBase frame of JL-900 SNOW WHITE air sampler is made of 60x80x3mm AISI304 stainless steel. It is strongenough to stand even on four rocks. However normally a 15cm thick concrete platform is made for installation.

BOLTSSNOW WHITE weights about 400kg so in normal circumstances it does not need bolting to concrete or platform.In some occasions she has been bolted to platform. There are holes in base frame to adapt M16 bolts.

PLATFORMA concrete or other platform, which is big enough, some 2x3meters, is also good to haveto make normal operation and maintenance nicer to operator; during rainy season she or hecan work standing on this platform which is dry for standing.

INSTALLATION PLACESnow White installations have been made on ground level, but also on roofs. In many cases when installation takes place in cities, it is more convinient to install the equipment on roof: air is cleaner, smaller risk for sabotage, et.c.Installations that are done on ground level, are normally places where public does not have enter: air ports, militaryareas or some institutes fenced areas.

ELECTRICITYStandard SNOW WHITE uses 400V/50Hz, 3-phase Mains PowerL1,L2,L3,N,PE.Pump maximum power is 9kW and the recommended fuse sizes are 25A. Normally pumpcontrol is done with soft starter, that limits the current peak during start and stop. In someoccasions we have also installed frequency inverter to run the pump. In these cases mainfuses can be 20A.In normal use and clean filter the power consumption is from 4 to 6kW.

DATA TRANSFERIn Standard model air flow information from panel meters can be remotely read viaRS232/485 link.In some cases we have also installed ADAM RS/Ethernet adapter to provide wider accessibilityto sampler data. In many cases data is read from panel meters at the sampler and written on data sheets.

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALSAll construction materials are such that they withstand all climatic circumsances well.Cover are glass reinforced plastics; same as yachts.Basic frame and tubing is AISI304 stainless steel that is electrochemically polished after fabrication, this is also the sameas in yacht building.All aluminium parts, like filter cassettes are anodized after fabrication; and once more this is the same method that is usedon yacht and boat building.Pump is heavy duty gas ring vacuum pump. There are no oil, just two bearings that need change every 2,5 years.

REMARKWe have delivered Snow White air samplers on all five continents. In some cases they have been special products likeSnow White.Arctic, which are installed in very cold circumstances.We have samplers in Pacific Ocean Islands and Atlantic Islands.In some cases there has been a shelter built over the Snow White. Reasons for building these shelters are:- Very heavy sun shine- Very heavy continuous rain- Very heavy sand stormsIn these kind of cases one of the major reason for shelter is to have protection to operator when she or he is changing thefilters and reading values from panel meter. Also durning service and maintenance, in these cases, it is nice tohave shelter when working.However, most of installations are “ under clear sky”.Snow White and HUNTER are designed and build in such a way that they can freely be installed without any shelter.Also they tolerate heavy winds. In some cases Snow White motor cover has been equipped with extra lock to make surethat there are no chances of motor box opening during Hurricane winds.

So far we have not got any information that strong winds have caused any problems.

3. Power and data cables are connectedand sampler is ready for operation.Takes from 2 to 4 hours.

4. Same day afternoon after test runs and training, a happy new owner: Dr. Clemens Schlosser, Bfs shakes hand with Mr. J. Lehtinen.

These locks where installed by ARPANSAin Australia, to some of their Snow Whiteair samplers, just to make sure that cover doesnot open in heavy storms.
