of people do and after

The Meaning of Life

My top ten albums

Page 2 Thomas Wi l l iamson Volume 1, I ssue 1

What is my meaning of life? My

meaning of life is to relax and have

fun. I’m not saying that I don't think

seriouse things aren't important but

they don't need to dominate my life.

After all in 10 years most everything

that is going on right now is just go-

ing to be a memory, I might as well

create memories that I will enjoy.

I’m a fairly busy guy having two part

time jobs, school and two active

bands. This makes what little free

time I have very precious. Making

the most out of my free time can be

difficult but im not about to spend

the rest of my life stressed out about

work and school. In order to lead a

fulfilling life that you can look back

on and be proud of you have to be

able to spend your free time doing

whatever you enjoy the most, so

when your old and look back on

your life you wont regret wasting

your time being stressed out.

The summer before my sopho-

more year of high school my

parents sent me on a 15 day

mission’s trip to El Salvador.

In the preceding months be-

fore the trip I was full of dread.

Hardly being a religious person

I could not help but to feel

guilty going to a different

country to witness to people.

We arrived in San Salvador in

the middle of El Salvador; it

was the first time I have seen

armed guards escorting people

in an airport.

We spent our week and a half

touring the parts of the city

that our host thought we could

handle. We visited about six or

seven families who all lived in

apartments smaller than my

basement. I’ve seen El Salva-

dor marked on maps as a mid-

dle class country but that visit

completely redefined the term,

It’s hard for me to imagine

how bad it is for highly impov-

erished countries. When I re-

turned to the states it was re-

lieving to be home but it was

difficult being around people

that have no sense of how

luxurious their life is. (180)

ing how much I have grown.

The biggest change I

have undergone is my social

persona, I have grown from a

shy kid that never talked in

class or to any one to a person

who is comfortable enough to

speak up in class or in front of

a large group of people with

Over the last four years a

strange thing has happened to

me. I have somehow managed

to change drastically without

even knowing it. At first

glance I would say that my

personality is the same but

when I really think about how

I act now opposed to how I

acted 4 years ago it is astonish-

little difficulty. I must say I am not

the most outspoken person in the

word but I certainly have come a

long way. This is possibly one of

the best things high school has

done for me, talking to people is a

valuable skill that has improved my

ability to communicate at work and

has also improved my social life

of my life. My car keys because

of the affect cars have on eve-

of my old paint brushes be-

always enjoy. I would also put

Time capsule

If I were too make a time cap-

sule to tell future students what

life was like as a student of

2013. I would put my year

book because it gives good

examples of what student life

was like. I would also put my

top ten albums in there. I don't

believe there are many people

that like those albums as much

as I do but music is a big part

Personal Reflections on Stress

Teachers

in this article the au-

thor states that many teens do

not cope with stress in healthy

ways forcing kids to feel over

whelmed and defeated. There

are tons of factors that add

stress to a teenagers life be-

tween school, sports, college

preparation and work its not

surprising that there are a rising

number of teenagers with

stress induced conditions (like

depression and anxiety). This

problem demands to be ad-

dressed, the mental and physi-

cal damage stress has on this

country’s future is far to great

to ignore.

Kids (and everyone

for that matter) need to find a

healthy way to dissipate stress

levels or at least not push

themselves into the ground. Is

it too much for teens to han-

dle? Most teenagers have little

enough free time between a 7

hour school day and work at

night to find time to relax and

enjoy themselves.

velop an independent style and

taught me how to effectively

problem solve and overcome

artistic road blocks. Of course

in my last year of high school I

decided to explore 2-D art,

only to find that I almost enjoy

it more than 3-D. Ms.

Browning guided me

through this year more

than anyone, she even

told me about what

schools I would fit in at

and the programs I

would like. In conclusion

I am incredibly thankful

for my teachers through-

out high school, and not

just art teachers I’v had

great teachers in my high

school career.

It would be a crime

to say that teachers haven’t

helped me through high

school! Thinking about my

attitude about school freshmen

year it’s staggering how much

iv changed. Granted I haven’t

been as motivated senior year,

but I realize that my education

is important and shouldn’t be

taken lightly.

I remember my very

first high school art class; it

was intro to 3-d art with Mrs.

Brown. I remember thinking

that she was a little bit of an

air head but she definitely

helped me get the confidence

to pursue art. After Mrs.

Browns class I took ceramics

for three years and then AP 3-

D art with Ms. Osborn, her

classes were significantly less

structured but helped me de-

Throughout my education I have learned

many things, more things than I can

even remember. However, one of the

most important things I have learned is

how to handle stress, and how to keep it

from interfering with my life outside of

school and work. Granted it is important

to get assignments finished and finished

on time, which may require sacrificing

time that I could use doing other things,

but it is important to enjoy your free

time when you have it and to not worry

about school or work and focus on your

life now. My parents had always told me

to do my school work first and then

hang out with friends but it gets to a

point when your over worked and need

to slow down and forget about added

stress from school and work.

out making a friend or two. The only thing that I can

even think of that I wont miss is the school pizza, which

is a shame because the lunch ladies are some of the nic-

est people I have met their pizza is just god awful.

What I will miss most

What will I miss most about high school?

I’d almost like to say that I wouldn’t miss

anything, because that’s like the typical teen-

age answer to that question… but sadly that

would be a lie for me to say I wont miss

anything. Ill definitely miss my teachers for

sure, most of them have been great and

have gone out of their way to help me get

through high school. Overall I don’t think I

dislike anything enough to not miss it, even

the bad things about high school will defi-

nitely have a certain nostalgic property to it.

For example, I’v have only been to maybe

four football games at Fishers and school

spirit drives me crazy but it’s a part of my

high school experience that I will miss. I will

definitely miss having classes with my

friends I don’t think I have had a class in

Siblings

Being raised with five

sisters has is ups and

downs

What I Will Miss Most

I have an interesting position

in my family, I am the only boy

out of 6 kids and a ‘middle’

child. However, there is a fairly

significant age gap between me

and older sisters. Since my

older sisters are so much older

than me and my younger sib-

lings I almost have a role simi-

lar to one of a first born be-

cause my younger sisters and

myself were raised after my

older siblings.

I suppose my posi-

tion in my family is pretty

good, seeing that I never had

to deal with having annoying

older siblings and my parents

were a little more relaxed be-

cause they had to deal with my

older sisters before me. My

sisters get along with me, in

fact my younger sister Anna

hangs out with me and my

friends all the time. I think I’m

a pretty laid back sibling and

hopefully am pretty easy to live

with. Living with five sisters

has made me more relaxed

around girls, which is helpful in

high school. I feel like being

raised in my house hold has

taught me what not to do in

relationships because I can

think of my older sister’s boy-

friends and basically do the

opposite.
