Meet
Sarah Smith
Sarah was born at home in
Malaga Ohio, December 18, 1927.
Her parents had 8 children, she was
number 7. When Sarah was in 1st grade,
her family moved to Barnesville, Ohio.
Pudge, her cat got lost and she went all over
town yelling it`s name. Since then ,all her
friends call her Pudge. In 1945 Sarah graduated
from Barnesville High School. At 19 she met Carl
Smith and they were wed in 1948 and they had 2
children, Carla Huntsman and Mike Smith. Carl
and Sarah were married for 60 years. Sadly, Carl
passed away in 2008. Now at 92 and legally
blind, with the help from her family and the
Barnesville Senior Center, she is very
Independent. She told me “if you don`t like
my answer, you shouldn`t have asked me".
Sarah enjoys life and is very competitive
when I play dice with her, or maybe
just when I`m keeping score. Sarah
joined the Center in 2013, and she
has been a joy and an asset
to the Center.

Bethesda Community Giving Back….
During this pandemic many seniors were unable to celebrate Easter with their
families. The Bethesda community made sure the area seniors were blessed
with a visit from the Easter Bunny with a very special gift!
On Saturday, April 11, 2020 over 160 seniors (many who are members
of the Bethesda Senior Center) throughout the Bethesda area were surprised
to answer a knock at the door to find a beautiful pot of flowers on their
doorstep and the Easter Bunny waving from the sidewalk!
The flowers represent “HOPE” and “KINDNESS”
all in the “SPIRIT” of Easter!
The seniors throughout the Bethesda area are touched and
thankful for the thoughtful compassion shown to them.
The members of the Bethesda Senior Center
would like to thank the Bethesda Community
for their Kindness, Generosity and
Loving support for our seniors.
You have brought much
Joy and Happiness
To all of them!
Thank You!

years, always ready to help out. During the Covid19
they are open with fresh meat in the store everyday.
There is always something cooking. Pick up a
Breakfast sandwich or your lunch fresh everyday.
Gas & Oil workers are very grateful to be able to
pick up a hot sandwich. Family Market also helped
feed 200 Union Local students hamburgers, chips &
candy for their lunch during this stay at home school
year. Thank You Jamie & Rose for always being
there when needed. Please help support this local
small business.

At The Coke Machine
A young man comes across an elderly
lady repeatedly putting quarters in a
coke machine, and placing the cokes in
her pockets. She did this again and again.
After she fills all her pockets she starts
stacking the cokes on the floor around her.
Finally the young man asks her,
“What are you doing?”
She responds, “DUH, I’m winning!”
