Senior Statement

A Senior Statement is issued to all students

who have satisfied the completion

requirements for Year 12 in Queensland.

The Senior Statement:

is a transcript of the learning completed

in Senior

shows all studies and results achieved

Queensland Certificate of Education

(QCE)

All students participating in the Senior

Phase of Learning must be working towards

the achievement of a QCIA or QCE.

To be eligible for a QCE students must

achieve at least 20 credits of learning,

with a minimum of 12 credits derived

from ‘core’ courses of study. Students

must also meet the QCE literacy and

numeracy requirements

The QCE, QCIA and Senior Statement are

issued by the Queensland Curriculum and

Assessment Authority (QCAA) in December

after a student has completed Year 12.

For further information on the QCIA, please

refer to the Special Education Program

(SEP) information brochure.

Students striving to study at university after

Year 12 are working towards an ATAR

(Australian Tertiary Admission Rank).

Students must study either 6 General

subjects, or 5 General subjects and 1 Applied

subject, in Years 11 and 12.

Eligibility for an ATAR will require satisfactory

completion of an English subject.

Schooling in Queensland is available on the

Senior Education and Training (SET)

Plan Process

During Year 10 students begin work on

their SET Plans.

Time and resources are given to

students to research various

occupations, industry and educational

pathways.

A student’s interests, abilities and

ambitions are taken into account when

making decisions regarding the senior

phase of learning.

Students need to consider their futures

based on their abilities and their

research into career options.

A SET Plan interview occurs during Term

3 between the Year 10 student, their

parent/carer and a school staff member.

SET Plans can be updated by the student

at any time whilst they are a Senior

School student.

Tertiary Entrance Pathway Guidance

The school holds a Pathways Expo

every year in Term 2. Students from

Years 10, 11 and 12 attend the Expo

to engage with representatives from

universities, training organisations

and employment organisations.

Year 11 and 12 is a two year

course. Students gain formative

knowledge and skills in Year 11

which is applied in Year 12

summative assessment.
