    2009,afterservingeightyearsinthe

    OhioHouseofRepresentativesasa

    memberfromtheDayton,Ohioarea.

    StateSenatorFredStrahorn(D40thHouseDistrict)endedhistimeintheHouseastheMinorityWhipinthe127th

    GeneralAssembly.HeservedfourtermsintheOhioHouseofRepresentatives.Herepresentedthecommunitiesof

    Trotwood,HarrisonTownship,partsofHuberHeights,RiversideandDayton.

    Mr.StrahorngraduatedfromtheOhioStateUniversityin1989withaBachelorofArtsdegreeinAviationManage

    ment.

    Aftergraduation,hemovedtoDayton,Ohiowhereheworkedinafamilybusiness,managingresidentialrentalprop

    erties.In1994,heobtainedhislicensetosellrealestateandworkedasarealtorwithCentury21TransAmandthen

    ColdwellBankerHeritage.

    HeservedaspresidentoftheCongressionalAdvisoryCounciltoCongressmanTonyHallfortwoyears,andisafor

    mermemberoftheSouthwestDaytonBusinessAssociationandtheDaytonAreaBoardofRealtors.

    In1997,FredStrahornbecameinvolvedinpublicserviceprofessionally.HewasemployedasaLegislativeAideto

    StateRepresentativeTomRobertsfrom19971999andStateSenatorMarkMalloryfrom19992000,afterwhichhe

    waselectedinNovember2000torepresentthe39thHouseDistrict(whichwaslaterredistrictedintothe40thDistrict).

    Hehasastronginterestingainingexperienceininternationalaffairs.In1999,hewaspartofaRotaryInternational

    GroupStudyExchangetoSweden,livingwithfamiliesandinteractingwithhisprofessionalcounterpartsinSweden

    aswellastheprofessionalcounterpartsofothermembersoftheexchange.In2005,heparticipatedwiththeAmeri

    canCouncilofYoungPoliticalLeadersinapoliticalexchangetoIndia,wherehewasabletomeetwithindividuals

    fromvariouselementsofthepoliticalspectruminIndia,fromelectedofficialstocivilservantstopartyleadership.

    HisinterestsareEducation,HealthcareandInternationalAffairs.

    TheWestMiltonLowDam

    Recently,familiesfromtheVillageofWestMiltonhaveexpressedconcernsregardingtheproposedremovalofthe

    WestMiltonLowDam.

    TheWestMiltonLowDamisownedbytheVillageofWestMilton. TheVillageofWestMiltonwantsthedamtobe

    removed,whilemanyofthefamiliessurroundingthedamdonotsupporttheproposedremoval. Thefirstmeeting

    regardingthisissuewasheldonJune9,2010.

    SenatorStrahornwasinattendancefortheJunemeetingandthesecondmeeting,heldonJuly14. AttheJuly14

    meeting,SenatorStrahornjoinedlocalstakeholders,StateRepresentativeRichardAdams,SuperintendentDr.Ginny

    Rammel,membersoftheOhioDepartmentofNaturalResources,andCityManagerTonyHowardtoaddressthe

    communitysquestions

    and

    concerns

    regarding

    the

    dam.
