Presentations for each track will come from a variety of soum; the call for pa- pers, invited papers, and 'sponsored sessions." The technical divisions were invited to suggest possible "sponsored sessions" within each track, but the responsibility for deter- mining which sessions belong in a par- ticular track is left up to the discretion of the chair. A separate group of presentations, or track, will come from the general call for papers and 'sponsored sessions.' These papers will not fit within any of the above tracks but are essential at the Spring Conference to presetve the broad base of this Society. One no- table difference between this year and past years is that all papers suggested for presentation will be reviewed, in- cluding invited papers and papers in sponsored sessions. This change was instituted to maintain a high level of quality in the presentations and subse- quent proceedings. Each track chair is responsible for forming a review com- mittee. For the 'general track" the TD review committees will review and rank the abstracts. The final organization of these papers will be the responsibility of the National Meetings Council Chairman, currently Charlie Harris. The National Meetings Council Chair- man will also be responsible overall for the Spring Conference. Duties will in- clude ensuring that the tracks have fit within their alotted space limitations, that the abstracts are high quality, that papers are placed in the correct ses- sions. I expect that the process used for the 1997 Spring Conference will evolve as we gain more experience and lead to stronger, well-attended meetings. - Elizabeth A Fuchs SEM President, 7 996- 199 7 Vibration Testing: Theory and Practice The Basic Rules of Vibration Testing October 28-29, 1996 Indian Lakes Resort, Bloomingdale, IL Presenters Dr. Kenneth G.
