PREFACE
It gives me immense pleasure to submit the Self Study Report
(SSR) of our college to the National Assessment &
Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore for accreditation
(Cycle 1) in compliance of our LOI requirements for quality
sustenance, enhancement and improvement of the college. This
exercise has provided us an opportunity to review and analyse
the institutional progress and further strengthened us in our
quest for Quality in the times to come.
The legal profession in India is very remunerative field today
because there is a great demand & need is legal education in the
society. The college takes a long Journey towards the course of
legal education. The college is Affiliated to Karnataka State
Law University, Hubli & recognized by Bar Council of India.
Hope we shall have the pleasure of hearing soon from you on

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Our college started with the premier centre of L L.B. proffesional course from 1996. This iconic
institution volunteers for the First cycle of accreditation,submitting its Self-Study Report (SSR-
2014), a document that faithfully conforms to NAAC‘s guidelines and records its vision, mission
and innovative initiatives in its pursuit of excellence.
1. Curricular Aspects
The aim of our institution is to serve as a repository of the best name in legal
fraternity and to make students to posses strong leadership, writing & analytical
skill that will allow them to become assets for themselves, their family the
community, the nation & the world which are a precrequisite for a Law students.
The mission of Government Law College is to provide a forum to produce and
disseminate knowledge on the implications and applications of Law within
societal & legal context. As a dedicated professional educator & being the Law
College we have the best interests in all our students. For this the faculty in recent
advances through participation in and organization of National/ State level
conferences, seminars and workshops and Refresher/Orientation courses and
feedback from students, alumnae and academic experts give the right impetus and
direction for necessary changes in the curriculum.
2.Teaching-Learning and Evaluation
Admission to the programmes is by a transparent, well-administered mechanism,
complying with all the norms of the concerned affiliating University and rules of Bar
Council of India & Higher Education. In our college oral lecture method is adopted
and the teacher’s uses reference books and latest Apex Court Judgement.
The college council decides that which subject will be taught by teachers and
according to it they teach their student and course must be completed within
prescribed time. Apart from classroom teaching Moot Court & Practical training,
group discussion debate, law quiz are also taught to students.
Now the university change the yearly system in Law and converted into Semester
system. 42 subjects are studied by the students in 5 years L L.B. Course. Our learning
method contribute to self managements of knowledge development and skill
formation i.e. our students are not only leading practitioner but they are Judges as well
as politicians. Internal examination and classroom Moot Court visit to the Courts for
learn the procedure of the court.
3.Research, Extension and Collaboration
The Institution provide only 5 years L. L B Professional course so it has no
research Centre. Law is not subject to make and research through any
equipment. The analysis of Law is a research. Each and every day the research
goes on by Jurist and the decision of Hon’ble apex courts. The research
depends upon the nature of people it depends upon the sererity and religion
which ever is in monitor condition the research depends on them.

The college oraganised Seminars and workshop on topics of Law and promote
the faculties and students to particapete in it. The faculty are also publish the
research papers and article. The legal awareness camps are organized by the
institution in campus and also in village.
State and national seminar are organized bythe competent authorities and the
students of our college participate in it. There is no international activities in
our college but in industry services sector and administrative agencies we
provide free legal services to them.
4.Infrastructure and Learning Resources
Infrastructure facilities are the key for effective and efficient conduct of the
educational programmes. We have 4 classroom in ground floor of main building and
2 classroom on the first floor of the building which is situated in the same campus of
Government Law College. As per direction of Bar Council of India 60 students can sit
in a class. There is separate staffroom for faculty members with separate toilet for
boys and girls. In first floor the college have Principal room, Office, Library, and
separate toilet. 5.Governance and Leadership
The college has a visionary and transformative leadership which has steered the
college to its present iconic status. Rooted firmly in the belief that education is the
path way to the empowerment of Law students, the enlightened Government provides
clear vision and mission of the institution which is in tune with the higher education
policies rules of Bar Council of India and affiliating University Karnataka State Law
University,Hubli. The Government commit to provide best education to their student
and also to improve the Standard of Law. The Government is also interested to
upgrade the institution by starting various diploma courses.

Criteria - wise Inputs CRITERION I: CURRICULAR ASPECTS
1.1 Curriculum Planning and Implementation
1.1.1 State the vision, mission and objectives of the institution, and
describe how these are communicated to the students, teachers,
staff and other stakeholders.
Government Law College is an oldest institution of Karnataka for education & Law
With a vision to under the observation of well settled law and justice should for all and to
Achieve this goal it is necessary that every citizen should be treated equal before law. For this we
have to thinks about those persons whose are belonging to poor, illiterate and backward classes.
And also for achieve this goal our institution is to serve as repository of the best name o f legal
fraternity and to make students to posses strong leadership analytical skills that will allow them to
become assists for themselves their family the society and for the nation which are prerequisite
for Law students.
Our Mission:
To mission of our institution is to provide a forum to produce and disseminate the
knowledge and implication and applications of law within social and legal context.
For this mission our institution follows the aims and objects as under:-
1. To promote the students to contemplate the basic futures and Principal’s of
Law or traditions governing Indian as well as global society.
2. To infuse and equip the students with the contemporary laws governing Indian society
and also to support the students in understanding that process of
legislation making.
3. The “Law” is however set of rules and regulations but the need is to understand that
the law in itself is an institution which caress, preserve and foster the democratic set-up of
any government. The students of GLC are been made to Acquiesce in this regard.
4. To foster and nurture the students with English communication skills and also to enable
them to improve writing skills.
The vision and mission of the institution is communicated to the students, teachers and other
stakeholders through the college website.
The goals and objectives are made known to the new entrants to face the
present problems of law and promote the moral , social an d intellectual

technology to make them enable to compete in competitive world.
The goals and objectives are made known to the stakeholders through the
meetings with Students, Parents, Alumni, Hon’bel Justice of High Court,
Hon’ble Judge of district Court, renounced practicing Advocates of High Court
and District court of Karnataka, Legal Awareness & Etc..
The display of Vision Statement and Mission Statement in prominent places on
the campus helps the stakeholders identify the goals and objectives of the
college.
Activities planned and conducted by the Students‘Council and various subject
societies and clubs also serve to reiterate the mission and vision of the college.

1.1.2 How does the institution develop and deploy action plans for
effective implementation of the curriculum? Give details of the process

The Institution strictly develops action plans for effective implementation of the
curriculum which is empower the quality education in Law students. Lectures prepare
schedule of work for each subject semester wise through the references citations in law
available in our library.
The college also organized the group discussion,debate, seminars and legal awareness
camp. This schedule of work is made available in the department and library for
reference. The curriculum delivery is effectively done through Lectures. This is
supplemented by Group Discussions, Seminars and Interactive sessions.
E-learning facility is made available for the faculty and students to further ensure effective
delivery of curriculum. The students are monitored and ensured through Internal Quality
Assurance Cell, Regular feedback obtained from the stakeholders, with respect to the
quality of the enrichment programmes are monitored and evaluated by the IQAC and
necessary remedial measures are incorporated in the future.
1.1.3 What type of support (procedural and practical) do the teachers
receive (from the University and/or institution) for effectively
translating the curriculum and improving teaching practices?
As the College is affiliated to Karnataka State Law Universityof Hubli so it follows the
University designed curriculum. The College operates at UG (Professional LL.B. course)
keeping in mind our goals and objectives, that is, to make every Law student practice in
court properly employable in various field in law such as Civil Judges, ADPO’s, Law
officer in Companies and other department through education.
The University forms an Academic Calendar that specifies the duration of the semester
the date of semester examination.
The college sends the faculty members to Faculty Enhancement Programs which
conducted by the university and the Law seminars orgnaised by other institutions.
The college organized seminar on law, workshops and legal awareness camp with the help
of District Legal Aid Authority and the law lectures by Hon’ble Justice of High Court,
Hon’ble Judge of district Court, renounced practicing Advocates of High Court and
District court of Karnataka to disseminate the inputs gained from the above orientation
programmes.
T he faculty is encouraged to publish articles in Law journals to promote the research
programmes of Library automations through working process .
The Institution provides a big law library with reference Law books, Journals, SCC online
and Library automations through working process to the faculty to effectively deliver the
curriculum.
Student feedback on teachers and curriculum is taken to make teaching learning more
effective.

The college ensures effective curriculum delivery and transaction on the curriculum provided by
the parental university and facilitates the development of Law by:
Preparing Academic Calendar and Schedule of work
Using Moot-Court training and internal competitions between the student which make
them to improve self-confidence when the start practicing to court.
By integrating of group discussion and debate competition in class room on various
current subjects of law i.e. RTI, Crimes against women, Matrimonial Law and
Environmental Law to experience in almost all the practical subjects
Organizing Court Visits
Holding law seminars
Organizing Legal awareness camp
Organizing Guest Lectures of Hon’ble Justice of High Court, Hon’ble Judge of district
Court, renounced practicing Advocates of High Court and District court of Kolar.
1.1.5 How does the institution network and interact with beneficiaries
such as industry, research bodies and the university in effective
operationalisation of the curriculum?
The college networks and interacts with stakeholders from Judgment of Apex court, district court
as citation and by the law experts and the university in effective operationalization of the
curriculum.
For quality enhancement of the students the regular visits of courts and Lok Adalat and legal
camp are organized by the college for practical knowledge and see the profession ethics and
decorum of the court.
The college are regularly inviting leading luminaries and professional experts in the law to
interact with the students for improving their professional skills.
University –Regular formal Board of Studies meetings conducted by the University and principal
of the law college throughout the academic sessions. University is invited for discussions and
major changes or amendment of syllabus in law and after consideration it can be changed or
modified.

Designing and restructuring of courses mainly lies on the Affiliating University.
The university called meetings of principals for any change in the courses of law
for quality enhancement and after discussion it can be modified by the board of
studies of university and as directed by the Education committee of bar council of
India.

Feedback of students and their parents on the desired changes in the curriculum
are also obtained. Inputs from alumni and employers are also taken into
consideration.

1.3 Curriculum Enrichment 1.3.1 Describe the efforts made by the institution to supplement the

integrated? The College being affiliated to the University does not have the option of formulating its own
curriculum. The aims of the institution for maintain the highest intellectual standards through
academic commitment for this students are inspired through the lectures on subject of law by
hon’ble Justice/Judges, eminent lawyers social workers and politician and their suggestion are
also feedback to our institution. These feedback transmitted to the university for supporting the
curriculum. The College ensures that the University curriculum is followed in the best of the
spirit. The College academic calendar is prepared every session with the active
involvement of the College.

organize the curriculum to enhance the experiences of the
students so as to cope with the needs of the dynamic
