Portable Power Supply

My Project converts a nine volt battery into a five volt normal output capable of charging or powering virtually anything.

This show the circuit powering a 10 Led USB light that takes a Five Volt input. This is one of the many things it can power.

Expected Learning

I expected to learn basic circuitry and electrical logic. I thought that this was suitable considering the fact that this circuit required quite a bit of electrical work.

This shows a complicatedmess of wires that have to go to a certain place or else the entire circuit would not work.

Learning

I ended up picking up a few other skills, I learned how to solder and drill safely. I ended up learning circuitry and electronics in the process.

These were crucial toward finishing the circuit.

Challenges of the Project

One Challenge in week one was that my circuit board broke in to two pieces. This was harmful because My out put was on the broken piece.

Another problem was that my main resource was out of the country. (My Father)

My last Problem was that My Circuit board broke again and this time it was in week Three. This hurt me because one crack was along my voltage regulator, this made me take precautionary measures.

Dealing with the Challenges

I dealt with the first issue by re-locating my output to the bigger part of the board containing the other parts that were already assembled.

I dealt with the second problem by using Skype to call my Father every night and consult with him about the project.

I dealt with the third issue by hot gluing the circuit board back into place and this was complicated with 4 main cracks to focus on.

Was it a Success?

I think that it is a success because it serves the purpose that it was designed for. That was the goal of the unit in the first place, to create something that you find useful. The only part that I found not successful was the cracks through the board. They

were unprofessional and do not look nice.

Contributions

My Father contributed his time and advice toward the creation of this project. He helped me design it and took me to radio shack and that’s where we got the supplies. He left out of country and I uses a skype call to consult with him about my project.

Class Time & Effort

I could have used more class time to work on my project and I’m sure that Mr. McCloud noticed. This was because I did not want to move on and make a mistake. I spent this time reassuring myself on what I needed to do. I then proceeded to work on my circuit in class. I should've done more trial and error and done my circuit in class more.

I tried to put my full effort in to this. I worked on it at home and spent upwards of $25 on the components. I also spent upwards of 5 hours soldering the circuit. I think that this shows effort.
