Select "Test" with the Main Power switch. The Self Test is complete when the "DN" Trim Light is out. Be sure HDG/STB knob is centered. Select "On" with the Main Power switch. All lights should be out except the "RDY" light. The Autopilot is Ready for use. To begin, press "ON/OFF" button to activate Stabilizer. Rotate knob for Standard Rate Turns Left or Right. To hold Altitude, press "ALT" button. Autopilot must be in STB, HDG, NAV or APR Mode. Adjust indicated Elevator Trim to extinguish trim light. To change Altitude, press "ALT" to turn OFF Altitude Hold. Push "HDG/STB" Button-Knob to activate Heading Hold. Push "HDG/STB" again to return to Stabilizer Mode. Rotate "HDG" Bug to desired Heading. You can use "HDG" Hold to intercept desired Course. To maintain Course, ensure Nav selector is set to appropriate Nav receiver. Press "NAV" button. Use "APR" if using GPS or LOC Signal. As Course is Intercepted, use "HDG" Bug to parallel Desired Course. To disengage Autopilot, use "ON/OFF" button, Disengage Button (on Control Yoke), Master Power switch or Circuit Breaker. Autopilot "NAV" Mode will not change from one Course to Another. Use HDG or STB to manually Transition from one leg to another. S-TEC 50 To use GPSS (GPS Steering), Autopilot must be in HDG mode.
