Billy Meek was born on a farm in North Carolina and lived there
during his childhood. As a teenager he worked at the Norfolk Navy Yard in Portsmouth, Virginia. While there he was saved in a Baptist Church.
Soon after he applied and was accepted as a student at Moody
Bible Institute. While a student at Moody he went home with a friend
who was a member at Ganson Street Baptist. Thereafter, every chance he got, he visited Ganson Street. "The church sort of adopted me,
because I had no home. It was true love. They were such wonderful
people," says Billy.

While at Moody he had another close friend who was from Kentucky. The
need for missionaries was so great that his friend asked him to go to Kentucky to help. Ganson Street commissioned him to go. For two years he labored alone without much real success. By that time he saw his need of a help
mate. He made several trips back to Michigan where he courted his future
wife, Mary.Billy and Mary established a church that
Billy pastored for many years. Mary went home to be with the Lord in 2002.Billy continues to help with Youth Haven Bible Camp in Kentucky and in nursing
home ministries around Wendover, Kentucky.

Terry received Christ in 1934 at White Spot Tavern/Mission. He began studying at Moody
Bible Institute in Chicago in 1945. On September 10, 1948 Terry was ordained to
gospel ministry under Dr. Howard Sugden at Ganson Street Baptist Church. In 1950, he
began pastoring the West Rome Baptist Church and Manitou Community Church in
Lenawee County, Michigan. He formed and organized Drive-In Churches, Inc., mission
organization now known as Drive-In Ministries which first operated in North
America, but now is an international ministry.
Olive was brought up in a pastor's home, lived most of her life in Phoenix, Arizona. She accepted Christ under the guidance of
her godly parents at the age of 9.

She entered Moody to prepare for full-time ministry anywhere the Lord would direct
her. While at Moody she ministered in the ladies Pilot Quartette as contralto, on radio,
various church assignments, and during Founders week for some years.
Terry and Olive began 3 months of Evangelistic ministry in the north eastern
section of the U.S. Many ministers encouraged them to pray for God's leading in their ministry as they believed they had the
gift of evangelism. In December of 1950, desiring to reach more people around the
Devil's Lake area, God led them to form and organize the Drive-In ministry, now serving

Matt Kavgian’s grandparents, Ed and Vera Coats were stalwart members of Ganson
Street for many years. His mother, Suzanne (Coats) Kavgian grew up in the church. All of his childhood memories of holidays and family gatherings revolve around Ganson and the persons within.
Matt and Anne-Coleman Kavgian met while both attending Wheaton College in Illinois. They were married in May of 2000. That September, they began their work in the ministry. Matt worked as the personal
assistant to the Founder and President of Campus Crusade, Dr. Bill Brighton, who
has since gone home to be with the Lord.

The Nakaokas BioBob was raised in a Christian home in Denver,
Colorado. He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior while in junior high school. He became
involved with a group called Campus Ambassadors while in pharmacy school at Colorado University.
He learned much about sharing his faith and Christian growth during this time. He wanted to use his pharmacy skills for the Lord in some way, so he
applied to go out as a short-term worker with CBFMS. He ministered for 18 months in Ivory Coast,
Africa. The need and desire for more Biblical training led him to Denver Seminary in 1979. After serving in a church planting ministry for 2 years, he
and Karen went to Ivory Coast as church development and medical missionaries with CBFMS.

through Campus Ambassadors in 1993. Return to Nakaokas Home

at her Baptist church at age 10. While at Ohio State University, she was active in a Baptist
Church and Navigators. She had been interested in missions for a long time, such that, upon her
arrival in Denver to engage in research at a local hospital, she also completed her nursing degree.
Bob and Karen met in a singles class at church and were married in 1986. Working with
internationals came naturally for them, as they constantly hosted foreign students in their home
and through church activities.
In the summer of 2004, the Nakaokas changed ministry focus to start working with a local

The Tomans BioSerina made her decision for Christ as a young child during VBS at Bethel Baptist Church. She remembered understanding the significance of the gospel and accepting the gift of salvation
then; however, it was not until high school and college that her faith matured to a point of
commitment and mature action. She sensed that being raised in a Christian home and being a life-
long church attendee has made her journey to Christ more of a continual learning process (rather than a single life-changing event).
Jason made a decision to follow Christ as an elementary school student at Trinity Lutheran School, although he would say that it was at a
later date that he understood that God demanded him to follow Him with his whole being. The transition point was at a youth
gathering in San Antonio where he gave his life to God the summer before he started college. Return to Tomans

The Tomans BioThey met through InterVarsity (I.V.). Jason was at his parent's home in August getting ready to
go back to school when he heard that the worship leader for the I.V. chapter had left WMU and they needed a replacement. They asked if
he would consider co-leading the musical worship with a sophomore girl who had a gift for music. After he got that girl's number, he called her and they decided to co-lead. That girl was Serina. They became great friends as they got to know each other through serving together.
They shared each others joys and struggles. The following school year, Serina had been chosen to
fill the role of Large Group Coordinator for the weekly mass I.V. meetings, and Jason was
chosen to be chapter president. After just a couple of months, Jason realized that she meant
more to him than just “friend.” They served together as leaders that school year and got

Having served several decades in Indonesia, Carl and Cindy Reed feel privileged to be teamed with
the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Indonesia (ETSI). ETSI has set for itself the
ambitious goal of reaching Indonesia for Christ in one generation, by planting a church in every one of its 55,000 villages. To do this, every seminary student studying at each of the 17
branch seminaries is required to win at least 15 people to Christ and to begin a new church or group before graduating. In the 20 years since the seminary began, the number of churches in Indonesia has doubled from 20,000 to 40,000. ETSI has had a part in this amazing growth. The Reeds find their teaching and counseling
challenging because their students come from a great many islands, each with its own cultural
identity.
Return to World Map
The Reeds BioCarl and Cindy also work with Indonesian church
planters serving in the Jogjakarta area. World Venture (Formerly CBI) also has workers serving among several of the least evangelized people
(LEP) groups of Indonesia. Indonesian LEP workers differ from church planters in that they
must work in a much lower profile, often in dangerous situations.
Although Indonesia’s Muslim population is the largest in the world, a significant number of
people have become Christians in recent years.

In September 2002, CBInternational evacuated all its workers from Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) due to fighting between rebel and government forces. At that time Ernie and Janice Eadelman
were publishing material in over 30 tribal languages. When the rebellion removed the
Eadelmans from this ministry, the national staff continued it for a time, but then were forced to
close the facility. As Ernie and Janice faced the necessity of finding
a new place to work they discovered a missionary family about to leave their ministry
just across the border in southern Mali. This was not far from their former area. From that village
they would be able to continue helping the Ivorians who were continuing the ministries
without missionary help.

small groups of believers in outlying areas. Using his business training Ernie has been able to mentor

Janice and Ernie also worked with the Senufo translation team to ready the entire Cebaara Bible for publication, a project that has taken more than

laboratory and assisted with the computer services at the Baptist Mission Hospital. He
managed the business and computers for the Nyarafolo Translation Project (NTP). Church
planting in Nyarafolo villages, mentoring leaders and counseling Nyarafolos were some of his
other responsibilities. Linn was director of the NTP, which included a
team of five Nyarafolos. She helped exegete the Old Testament section, and has been working with a Nyarafolo lay preacher on translating
Genesis. The group has also aired a weekly radio program, the only Nyarafolo broadcast in
existence, attracting many listeners.

east of Ferkessédougou. Glenn helped train the Nyarafolo lay leaders from these groups. There
has been increasing responsiveness to the gospel, with several other villages asking for

churches.
In March 2002 the Second Baptist Church of Krakow became a legally registered church with
Polish government. To legally exist in the country a church must have at least 25 members and at the time it was registered, Second Baptist
had 26. It was the first church planted in that region of Poland since World War II.
Mike has an evangelistic Bible study with a Polish motorcycle dealer three times a week.
Mike also plays the drums for the gospel choir "Joyful Voice." The choir is primarily made up of
Roman Catholics. Because of this, they often have the unprecedented opportunity to sing in Roman Catholic churches. At each concert the
gospel is preached.

London when he was 17. He was led to join Campus Crusade with a desire to be an effective
witness as a future teacher and coach.
Nan is the daughter of a Murray and Mary Hess of Brooklyn, MI. She accepted Christ at a
Brooklyn Baptist revival and grew up in the church and Jackson CYC. She had a great desire to witness, but was never taught how to do it. She later taught 1st grade and visited with the

David grew up in the Church of Christ of Ann Arbor and came to the Lord after having been
convicted by a stirring Hell, Fire, and Brimstone message. Marjory came to know the Lord as her personal Savior at the Bible Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. The call to the Ministry for Marjory came at age 14. In 1990, after a
missionary conference, David read a pamphlet by Pastor David Hill entitled: “Hearing the Call of God.” It was after talking with Pastor Hill
and understanding the “Seven Steps in Hearing the Call of God” that he responded to
his call for his family to go to South Africa. God used Philippians 2:13 to confirm his call on their lives. “For it is God that worketh in you both to will, and to do of his good pleasure.”
Several members of their church also confirmed His call on their lives.

The Patricks have supported missionaries to South Africa with The Evangelical Alliance
Mission (TEAM) since 1993. The are currently serving together as promotional directors and lecturers, Choir Master (David), and Registrar
and Vice-President (Marjory) at the Union Bible Institute in South Africa. They serve their local
church ministry, City Harvest International Fellowship, as Support Ministers, Lecturers,
Choir Director, Editor of Church Publications, and Board Member of Operation Moses (an AIDS
orphan ministry). It is interesting that the Lord not only gave them the same birthday, but they were also born again
in the same month. This was one of the attractions that drew them together as they met in 1973 in another area of love in their lives- the
Music Department at Eastern Michigan University.
They are in the center of His Will and cannot be happier doing what He’s called them to do.

David grew up in a home where his dad followed the teaching of a cult and his mother attended a
Baptist church. This left him very confused about God and what salvation really was. He
spent his late teens and early twenties living a very worldly lifestyle. At age 23 he started to attend church with Wendy and started reading the Bible. Through reading the Bible and the things he had learned as a child attending the Baptist church with his mother, David finally
understood that Christ paid had it all, and that all he had to do was accept His gift of salvation.
Wendy came to know the Lord in 1980. She had been attending church and had been watching the “A Thief in the Night” series. She asked
Jesus into her life one morning after a visit from the Kurowicki’s current pastor.

Doug grew up in a military family, which helped him see many different countries
and cultures even before he came to know Christ. Living for three years in Italy, he attended various Catholic churches and developed a greater awareness of the
actual plight of many Italians living without Christ today. He came to Christ in Europe and lived his first Christian years in Italy,
which proved to be a benefit years later as he returned to develop a ministry of
reaching Italians for Christ.
Dee received a diploma from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. She also studied for a year at Mulnomah.

Doug and Dee arrived in Naples in 1978 and were introduced to a small group of
believers. They sensed this group desired to grow and develop into a vital, moving
church. From the onset, with a love for the people and a willingness to trust God in all situations, they began to see a change in the hears of different families that once resisted the gospel. The Casoria church,
which once counted only a handful of people, is now an explosive testimony in
the city. Over 400 people attend on Sundays, and often times the building cannot hold the hundreds that come to special meetings. Because of its unique inner-city outreach, many drug-addicts,
homosexuals, Mafia members, and young people from all walks of life have come to a
saving knowledge of ChristReturn to Valenzuela Home

Tony grew up in a broken home. His father was an alcoholic and left his mom when Tony was
quite young. Tony and his mom were poor and lived in an inner-city area. God was someone
non-existent in his family until his mother became a believer when Tony was 12-years-old.
Three years later, he accepted Christ into his heart and life. When he was 17, he sensed the
Holy Spirit leading him into ministry and especially into missions. This burden was laid upon his heart by God as he read the Bible and
prayed regularly. He later graduated from Prairie Bible College in Alberta, Canada, and
Cedarville College in Ohio. Intermingled with his college education he also spent about 1 ½ years
in short-term missions work.

At age 15, Kathy attended a WOL camp in Schroon Lake, New York, and was chollenged to commit her ways to the Lord; to be completely
available to be used by Him, wherever that might be.
After they were married and finished college, Tony and Kathy were led to serve Him. They
went to language school in France, and then to Mali. They served the Lord in a pioneer ministry among the Maures in Tombouctou for two years when, as a result of civil strife, they had to leave the field. Since then, they have been involved in
two different church planting ministries in France. They are currently in Bar-Sur-Seine; a town of about 5,000 people located about two hours away from Paris. They are involved in
church-planting and building relationships with people in the community and sharing the gospel
as the Lord opens doors and leads them to people who are searching.

Although Mark was born in Alma, MI, his family moved shortly thereafter and settled in Gladwin. His Christian parents encouraged him to attend
church and summer youth camp, where he committed his life to Christ in 1960. He met the Navigators at Central Michigan University as a freshman and became actively involved in this ministry. After graduation, he continued his
training and ministry with the Navigators while on staff at Western Michigan University (WMU).
In 1981, he was ordained with the North American Baptists, and in 1983, he attended the
University of Connecticut.
Mary was born in Midland, MI, and grew up in Coleman. She came to Christ in 1960, through

Their focus has been unchurched secular people in Hungary, and business and professional
people in the Transylvanian region of Romania. In Hungary, the fruit of their ministry has formed a foundation called “Salt and Light”, and is led
by Hungarians who have come to Christ and want to reach out to others. In Romania, a
business association called the Transylvanian Business Forum has also been formed. This association helps Christian business people
develop their businesses with biblical principles, and enables them to minister to others. Mark has also been the chairman of the board for

Christians in evangelistic work on weekends in and around Tokyo. He dedicated his life to the Lord for missionary work in Japan shortly after
arriving as a G.I. He returned to Tokyo as a missionary in 1956, after having been honorably
discharged in 1955. He helped in street evangelism, church planting, tent evangelism, children’s ministry, and literature distribution.
He met Winnie in 1961.
Winnie was born in Ferndale, MI and moved to Brooklyn at the age of nine along with her

and helped her to pay for her Masters program at Philadelphia Biblical University.
When Kristi is not working at the school or actively evangelizing, she enjoys jogging in

The Luptons BioDan and Nancy Lupton are pioneer
missionary evangelists in the Czech Republic, the most atheistic nation in Eastern Europe. Despite this fact, they have invitations and access into the high schools, colleges, and public forums to teach the Gospel of Jesus
through English classes, and to invite seekers to in-depth Bible classes. Their plan is to win souls for Jesus and disciple them in the faith, with the goal to plant a church in
Svitavy, the city famous for “Schindler’s List.”
This task is not new to the Luptons. They have a history of mentoring Czech pastors and church leaders. Dan is also Director of

in preaching and teaching the Word.
