Billy Meek was born on a farm in North Carolina and lived there

during his childhood.  As a teenager he worked at the Norfolk Navy Yard in Portsmouth, Virginia.  While there he was saved in a Baptist Church.

Soon after he applied and was accepted as a student at Moody

Bible Institute.  While a student at Moody he went home with a friend

who was a member at Ganson Street Baptist.  Thereafter, every chance he got, he visited Ganson Street.  "The church sort of adopted me,

because I had no home.  It was true love.  They were such wonderful

people," says Billy.

While at Moody he had another close friend who was from Kentucky.  The

need for missionaries was so great that his friend asked him to go to Kentucky to help.  Ganson Street commissioned him to go.  For two years he labored alone without much real success.  By that time he saw his need of a help

mate.  He made several trips back to Michigan where he courted his future

wife, Mary.Billy and Mary established a church that

Billy pastored for many years.  Mary went home to be with the Lord in 2002.Billy continues to help with Youth Haven Bible Camp in Kentucky and in nursing

home ministries around Wendover, Kentucky.

Terry received Christ in 1934 at White Spot Tavern/Mission.  He began studying at Moody

Bible Institute in Chicago in 1945.  On September 10, 1948 Terry was ordained to

gospel ministry under Dr. Howard Sugden at Ganson Street Baptist Church.  In 1950, he

began pastoring the West Rome Baptist Church and Manitou Community Church in

Lenawee County, Michigan.  He formed and organized Drive-In Churches, Inc.,  mission

organization now known as Drive-In Ministries which first operated in North

America, but now is an international ministry.

Olive was brought up in a pastor's home, lived most of her life in Phoenix, Arizona.  She accepted Christ under the guidance of

her godly parents at the age of 9.

She entered Moody to prepare for full-time ministry anywhere the Lord would direct

her.  While at Moody she ministered in the ladies Pilot Quartette as contralto, on radio,

various church assignments, and during Founders week for some years.

Terry and Olive began 3 months of Evangelistic ministry in the north eastern

section of the U.S.  Many ministers encouraged them to pray for God's leading in their ministry as they believed they had the

gift of evangelism.  In December of 1950, desiring to reach more people around the

Devil's Lake area, God led them to form and organize the Drive-In ministry, now serving

30 states plus Canada, Mexico, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Nigeria, El Salvador and

Honduras.

Matt Kavgian’s grandparents, Ed and Vera Coats were stalwart members of Ganson

Street for many years.  His mother, Suzanne (Coats) Kavgian grew up in the church.  All of his childhood memories of holidays and family gatherings revolve around Ganson and the persons within.

Matt and Anne-Coleman Kavgian met while both attending Wheaton College in Illinois. They were married in May of 2000. That September, they began their work in the ministry. Matt worked as the personal

assistant to the Founder and President of Campus Crusade, Dr. Bill Brighton, who

has since gone home to be with the Lord.

based in Orlando, Florida.  CrossRoads employs character education and evangelism to address social needs like HIV/AIDS, drug addiction, and violence in over 60 countries around the world.

Specifically, he directs our work in Eastern Europe and Russia.  In addition, this year he produced a documentary film called, “Hope

Positive: Surviving the Sentence of HIV/AIDS” and is currently co-authoring a book on the

subject. Anne-Coleman (it goes together, like the first name Anne Marie) works with Campus

Crusade’s high school student ministry, Student Venture, at a large local high school.  She

and Sherry Lemmon have lived in both Shell and Quito, Ecuador. John served as e-mail

administrator and pilot/mechanic for the MAF Ecuador program. For the past 10 years, he has

been the Regional Chief Pilot for the Latin American Regional Office in Quito. As Chief

Pilot, he was responsible for promoting safety in the Ecuador, Venezuela, and Haiti programs as well as with the MAF affiliates in Mexico and Suriname. John says, "This meant confirming

that each country was visited each year by the safety department or me, as well as

performing check rides, safety inspections, and technical meetings." After 21 years in Ecuador,

John has accepted an assignment as MAF recruiter for the Midwest region of the United

States. "This is a new position with lots of unknowns," shares John.

year in Ecuador, Sherry was in charge of organizing hospitality. She also learned more about in-depth Bible study from leadership training courses she took for Precepts Bible Ministries. "It’s good to be reminded that no

matter where I am or what I am going through, I don’t need to fear, because God is

The Nakaokas BioBob was raised in a Christian home in Denver,

Colorado.  He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior while in junior high school.  He became

involved with a group called Campus Ambassadors while in pharmacy school at Colorado University.

He learned much about sharing his faith and Christian growth during this time.  He wanted to use his pharmacy skills for the Lord in some way, so he

applied to go out as a short-term worker with CBFMS.  He ministered for 18 months in Ivory Coast,

Africa.  The need and desire for more Biblical training led him to Denver Seminary in 1979.  After serving in a church planting ministry for 2 years, he

and Karen went to Ivory Coast as church development and medical missionaries with CBFMS.

They transferred to Mission to the Americas to minister to international and Mormon students

through Campus Ambassadors in 1993. Return to Nakaokas Home

Karen, was born and raised in Canton, Ohio.  She became a Christian during a missions conference

at her Baptist church at age 10.  While at Ohio State University, she was active in a Baptist

Church and Navigators.  She had been interested in missions for a long time, such that, upon her

arrival in Denver to engage in research at a local hospital, she also completed her nursing degree.

Bob and Karen met in a singles class at church and were married in 1986.  Working with

internationals came naturally for them, as they constantly hosted foreign students in their home

and through church activities.

In the summer of 2004, the Nakaokas changed ministry focus to start working with a local

congregation in the Ogden, Utah area that is heavily Mormon.

When he was 14, his family went to Jackson County to settle in the U.S.  He graduated from both Northwest High School and Spring Arbor

College.  While pursuing his Th.M. degree from Dallas Theological Seminary, he did a pastoral

internship at Ganson Street Baptist Church under Pastor Lloyd Johnson.  The Lord called him

to missionary service during the summer of 1976, which he spent in Grenada as a summer missionary.  He teaches Bible Institute classes

for the eight Berean Bible Churches in Grenada.  He is also principal and main teacher for the

secondary grades of the Berean Christian Academy.  Rueben also serves as an elder in the

church that his father helped to start, and is active in a prison ministry in Grenada as well.

The Tomans BioSerina made her decision for Christ as a young child during VBS at Bethel Baptist Church. She remembered understanding the significance of the gospel and accepting the gift of salvation

then; however, it was not until high school and college that her faith matured to a point of

commitment and mature action. She sensed that being raised in a Christian home and being a life-

long church attendee has made her journey to Christ more of a continual learning process (rather than a single life-changing event).

Jason made a decision to follow Christ as an elementary school student at Trinity Lutheran School, although he would say that it was at a

later date that he understood that God demanded him to follow Him with his whole being.  The transition point was at a youth

gathering in San Antonio where he gave his life to God the summer before he started college. Return to Tomans

The Tomans BioThey met through InterVarsity (I.V.). Jason was at his parent's home in August getting ready to

go back to school when he heard that the worship leader for the I.V. chapter had left WMU and they needed a replacement.  They asked if

he would consider co-leading the musical worship with a sophomore girl who had a gift for music.  After he got that girl's number, he called her and they decided to co-lead. That girl was Serina. They became great friends as they got to know each other through serving together.

They shared each others joys and struggles.  The following school year, Serina had been chosen to

fill the role of Large Group Coordinator for the weekly mass I.V. meetings, and Jason was

chosen to be chapter president.  After just a couple of months, Jason realized that she meant

more to him than just “friend.” They served together as leaders that school year and got

Having served several decades in Indonesia, Carl and Cindy Reed feel privileged to be teamed with

the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Indonesia (ETSI). ETSI has set for itself the

ambitious goal of reaching Indonesia for Christ in one generation, by planting a church in every one of its 55,000 villages. To do this, every seminary student studying at each of the 17

branch seminaries is required to win at least 15 people to Christ and to begin a new church or group before graduating. In the 20 years since the seminary began, the number of churches in Indonesia has doubled from 20,000 to 40,000. ETSI has had a part in this amazing growth. The Reeds find their teaching and counseling

challenging because their students come from a great many islands, each with its own cultural

identity.

planters serving in the Jogjakarta area. World Venture (Formerly CBI) also has workers serving among several of the least evangelized people

(LEP) groups of Indonesia. Indonesian LEP workers differ from church planters in that they

must work in a much lower profile, often in dangerous situations.

Although Indonesia’s Muslim population is the largest in the world, a significant number of

people have become Christians in recent years.

Primary Ministry  Focus- Equipping Indonesians to reach Indonesia for Christ in this generation. The People- Seminary and Christian university students come from all over Indonesia. Each

island has its own cultural distinctives, so the students are a colorful group.

In September 2002, CBInternational evacuated all its workers from Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) due to fighting between rebel and government forces. At that time Ernie and Janice Eadelman

were publishing material in over 30 tribal languages. When the rebellion removed the

Eadelmans from this ministry, the national staff continued it for a time, but then were forced to

close the facility. As Ernie and Janice faced the necessity of finding

a new place to work they discovered a missionary family about to leave their ministry

just across the border in southern Mali. This was not far from their former area. From that village

they would be able to continue helping the Ivorians who were continuing the ministries

without missionary help.

laboratory and assisted with the computer services at the Baptist Mission Hospital. He

managed the business and computers for the Nyarafolo Translation Project (NTP). Church

planting in Nyarafolo villages, mentoring leaders and counseling Nyarafolos were some of his

other responsibilities. Linn was director of the NTP, which included a

team of five Nyarafolos. She helped exegete the Old Testament section, and has been working with a Nyarafolo lay preacher on translating

Genesis. The group has also aired a weekly radio program, the only Nyarafolo broadcast in

existence, attracting many listeners.

The Boeses BioA group of Nyarafolo believers committed to

reaching their people met weekly in the Boeses’ courtyard. Glenn and Linn partnered with them

in prayer, evangelism and training. A major emphasis of the group has been to create and record Christian songs in their own indigenous music form, including Scripture-based music on the life of Christ and the Genesis stories. Three groups of believers have been meeting to the

east of Ferkessédougou. Glenn helped train the Nyarafolo lay leaders from these groups. There

has been increasing responsiveness to the gospel, with several other villages asking for

training. People have also walked long distances to attend services.

Primary Ministry Focus- Reaching the Nyarafolo people through church planting and Bible

translation. Most Nyarafolo are farmers with a strong animist traditions.Return to Boese

Since 1998 Mike and Agnieszka Green have ministered in Krakow, Poland, establishing

churches.

In March 2002 the Second Baptist Church of Krakow became a legally registered church with

Polish government. To legally exist in the country a church must have at least 25 members and at the time it was registered, Second Baptist

had 26. It was the first church planted in that region of Poland since World War II.

Mike has an evangelistic Bible study with a Polish motorcycle dealer three times a week.

Mike also plays the drums for the gospel choir "Joyful Voice." The choir is primarily made up of

Roman Catholics. Because of this, they often have the unprecedented opportunity to sing in Roman Catholic churches. At each concert the

gospel is preached.

The Greens BioAgnieszka teaches a cooking class for women. The class is usually centered on a theme, i.e., "Brazilian night" or "Italian night." During the class one woman shares and demonstrates a

recipe and another woman shares a Bible devotional. Usually about 15 women attend

with half of those women being nonbelievers. Agnieszka also leads a women’s Bible study class and is planning a women’s conference.

Primary Ministry Focus- Planting and establishing churches that will begin new

daughter churchesThe Greens minister to people who are in their late 20s to late 40s, most of whom are college educated. People outside of their church are

usually Roman Catholic, and in most cases only nominal in their faith.

David grew up in the Church of Christ of Ann Arbor and came to the Lord after having been

convicted by a stirring Hell, Fire, and Brimstone message. Marjory came to know the Lord as her personal Savior at the Bible Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. The call to the Ministry for Marjory came at age 14. In 1990, after a

missionary conference, David read a pamphlet by Pastor David Hill entitled: “Hearing the Call of God.” It was after talking with Pastor Hill

and understanding the “Seven Steps in Hearing the Call of God” that he responded to

his call for his family to go to South Africa. God used Philippians 2:13 to confirm his call on their lives. “For it is God that worketh in you both to will, and to do of his good pleasure.”

Several members of their church also confirmed His call on their lives.

in the same month. This was one of the attractions that drew them together as they met in 1973 in another area of love in their lives- the

Music Department at Eastern Michigan University.

David grew up in a home where his dad followed the teaching of a cult and his mother attended a

Baptist church. This left him very confused about God and what salvation really was. He

spent his late teens and early twenties living a very worldly lifestyle. At age 23 he started to attend church with Wendy and started reading the Bible. Through reading the Bible and the things he had learned as a child attending the Baptist church with his mother, David finally

understood that Christ paid had it all, and that all he had to do was accept His gift of salvation.

Wendy came to know the Lord in 1980. She had been attending church and had been watching the “A Thief in the Night” series. She asked

Jesus into her life one morning after a visit from the Kurowicki’s current pastor.

Doug grew up in a military family, which helped him see many different countries

and cultures even before he came to know Christ. Living for three years in Italy, he attended various Catholic churches and developed a greater awareness of the

actual plight of many Italians living without Christ today. He came to Christ in Europe and lived his first Christian years in Italy,

which proved to be a benefit years later as he returned to develop a ministry of

reaching Italians for Christ.

Doug and Dee arrived in Naples in 1978 and were introduced to a small group of

believers. They sensed this group desired to grow and develop into a vital, moving

church. From the onset, with a love for the people and a willingness to trust God in all situations, they began to see a change in the hears of different families that once resisted the gospel. The Casoria church,

which once counted only a handful of people, is now an explosive testimony in

the city. Over 400 people attend on Sundays, and often times the building cannot hold the hundreds that come to special meetings. Because of its unique inner-city outreach, many drug-addicts,

homosexuals, Mafia members, and young people from all walks of life have come to a

Tony grew up in a broken home. His father was an alcoholic and left his mom when Tony was

quite young. Tony and his mom were poor and lived in an inner-city area. God was someone

non-existent in his family until his mother became a believer when Tony was 12-years-old.

Three years later, he accepted Christ into his heart and life. When he was 17, he sensed the

Holy Spirit leading him into ministry and especially into missions. This burden was laid upon his heart by God as he read the Bible and

prayed regularly. He later graduated from Prairie Bible College in Alberta, Canada, and

Cedarville College in Ohio. Intermingled with his college education he also spent about 1 ½ years

in short-term missions work.

Kathy was raised in a Christian home by parents who were committed to the Lord. She accepted

went to language school in France, and then to Mali. They served the Lord in a pioneer ministry among the Maures in Tombouctou for two years when, as a result of civil strife, they had to leave the field. Since then, they have been involved in

two different church planting ministries in France. They are currently in Bar-Sur-Seine; a town of about 5,000 people located about two hours away from Paris. They are involved in

church-planting and building relationships with people in the community and sharing the gospel

The Greenmans BioDave was born of missionary parents in Argentina, where he stayed until he was

13. He was saved at the age of 5. He spent high school and college ears in

Michigan, where he met Nancy. While in college at Kalamazoo, he helped start a

church among Latin American immigrants and witnessed in the apple orchards to

Mexican apple pickers.

Nancy’s parents were immigrants from Lithuania, and settled in the Grand Rapids area of Michigan, where Nancy was born.

After a bout with severe illness, she accepted Christ at 13, in a small bible

Church. She was headed for Africa as a missionary until Dave interested her in

Latin America.

Dave and Nancy were married in 1974, and after one year of short terms service in

Argentina, headed for Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. God gave them a vision to return to

Argentina. After much prayer and soul-searching, they answered God’s call to be church planters and developers as well as

directing the camping program for which Dave serves as camp administrator.

The People-The people in Jujuy are primarily from Bolivian Indian descent, many working in

construction, as school teachers, in small industry or as government office workers.  Major Challenges- Local churches still lack

spiritually mature and strong leaders. The main focus is to teach and train them toward

faithfulness to Christ and with a responsible, evangelistic and missionary vision.

The Fords BioJon and Stacy Ford have been at Camp

Barakel for over 11 years, first arriving in their mission field in May of 1995. Jon's

present responsibilities include work with the West Side Program in the summer,

Chapel Leader in the winter, Dining Hall Host (announcements), Bus Driver, Y.A.P.S. Coordinator, Bible Studies Leader, and

Waterfront Coordinator.

Stacy is on her "year off" with Samuel.  In January, she will be back on the ladies

schedule of 2 mornings of kitchen work and a cleaning

assignment in camp each week.

Jon and Stacy are continually seeking God's guidance for their future, not wanting to be at camp just because it's "comfortable and a great place to live".  So far, however, this is

where He is calling them.Return to Fords Home Page

The Luptons BioDan and Nancy Lupton are pioneer

missionary evangelists in the Czech Republic, the most atheistic nation in Eastern Europe. Despite this fact, they have invitations and access into the high schools, colleges, and public forums to teach the Gospel of Jesus

through English classes, and to invite seekers to in-depth Bible classes. Their plan is to win souls for Jesus and disciple them in the faith, with the goal to plant a church in

Svitavy, the city famous for “Schindler’s List.”

This task is not new to the Luptons. They have a history of mentoring Czech pastors and church leaders. Dan is also Director of

Member Care to the missionary staff of First Love International Ministries, which means he is the pastor to missionaries in Kenya, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand, S. Korea

and Eastern Europe. Return to Luptons

The Luptons BioDan and Nancy are seasoned veterans. Their training, passion, experience and love for the lost has prepared

them for this missionary crescendo. Dan’s mission training began in his youth. For nearly six decades, he

always participated in or led a church that was growing with true kingdom vision. His Bible education in church and in scholastic settings has given him a life long passion for God’s Word. God has gifted him

in preaching and teaching the Word.

Their early married life involved raising support, going into a town 98% Mormon and praying up a church that

is still thriving today. They’ve been through many mission boot camps and training programs for short

term missions.
