March/April 2018 Volume 26: Number 1 March/April 2018 Tribal Council Election Results Seldovia Village Tribe has a total of 572 Enrolled Tribal Members, 448 of these Members are eligible Voters. On Thursday, February 8, 2018 the Tribal Election Committee convened at the SVT Administrative Offices to count ballots. 2018 showed a 38% voter turnout was received. (185 ballots received-15 were invalid). Thanks to all who took the time to return their ballot. This is a very important privilege of being a voting Tribal member. Those elected to Council Seats are as follows: Three year terms: John Crawford Lillian Elvsaas Katherine Gottlieb Officers were elected during SVT’s regular February Council meeting certifying the 2018 Election. Achievement Amount: $1500

Student Exchange Amount: $1000

Qualifications: Eligible applicant must be enrolled:

as full-time students (12 or more credit hours per semester for undergraduate students; 9 or more credit hours per semester for graduate students);at an accredited college or university or accepted for admittance to a post secondary program; and for a two-year or four-year undergraduate degree.Student Exchange Program, for a 10 month school year

2018 Open Tribal EnrollmentSeldovia Village Tribe Open Enrollment begins July 1 through September 1, 2018.

Eligibility: Any blood descendent of any person who was originally enrolled to the Native Village of Seldovia -under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.

Being enrolled with Seldovia Village Tribe has many benefits for programs available to Alaska Natives such as housing needs, low income energy assistance heating program, scholarships, health care and much more.

Deckhand (Seldovia Bay Ferry) Job Location: SeldoviaWe are seeking reliable individuals to join our Seldovia Bay Ferry roster this summer. This position ensures passenger safety, provides customer service, assists in and/or conducts vessel operations and maintenance as directed by Mate or Vessel Captain. Pay $150/Day.

Relief Captain (Seldovia Bay Ferry) Job Location: SeldoviaServe as relief to full-time Captain of Kachemak Voyager. 100-ton license requirement. Manages all operations for the Kachemak Voyager to include engineering, customer service, crew management, passenger and crew safety, and operational efficiency. Must have USCG Master 100 Ton License, Radar Observer, Unlimited: Marine Operators Permit; TWIC Certification, knowledge of Alaska waters, excellent navigational and ship-handling skills on a vessel of similar size.

Mate (Seldovia Bay Ferry) Job Location: SeldoviaThe Mate will provide an increased level of experience on the Kachemak Voyager.   The Mate will be responsible for supervising deckhands, while the vessel is underway and act as the team leader in response to any emergency on board.   He or she will be able to assist the Vessel Captain in the operation of the vessel and will be available to operate the vessel in the event the Vessel Captain becomes incapacitated. Must have USCG Master 100 Ton License.

Relief Custodian (Seldovia Village Tribe) Job Location: SeldoviaThis position will be scheduled to cover vacation and sick days of regular staff. This position is responsible for keeping the interior, exterior, sidewalks, and parking areas of SVT Administrative and Conference Center buildings in clean and safe condition.Pay $16.00/Hour

Billing Supervisor (SVT Health & Wellness) Job Location: HomerThis position performs billing and collections functions for SVT Health & Wellness to include providing daily oversight and direction of billing and collection support team. Strong background in revenue cycle a must. 2+ Years of experience in medical and dental billing or similar field required, 1+ Years of experience in supervisory position preferred.

Contract Dental Hygienist (SVT Health & Wellness) Job Location: HomerThe ideal candidate will be available to cover for a planned leave of absence of regular staff between June and September. Under the general supervision of the Dental Director, this position assesses patient needs, plans and delivers dental care within the scope of training and licensure.

Housing Program Coordinator (Housing) Job Location: SeldoviaProvide housing assistance and advocacy to Tribal and community members. Responsible for the continued development of the Tribal Housing Program promoting affordable, safe, and secure housing in the Seldovia area for eligible Native American participants.

Visitor Center Attendant (Tribal Ops) Job Location: SeldoviaResponsible for meeting and greeting SVT Museum/Visitor Center visitors, guiding visitors through the museum, and offering assistance with products and purchases.

Ch’anik’na Specialist (Social Services) Job Location: SeldoviaFull-time position available. The Ch'anik'na Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day supervision in the Ch'anik'na program and of the Ch'anik'na Aides.  The Ch'anik'na Specialist develops curriculum, schedules, and activities.
