Selangor Blueprint 2011-2013

After more than two years of having taken over in Selangor, the Pakatan Rakyat government is embarking on another exciting project: preparation of a Selangor Blueprint 2011-2013. 1) Infrastructure, Development and Economic Policy 2) Good Governance and Transparency 3) Social Issues and Community Development

The key questions to respond to are:

What are the main issues that require attention: immediate and mid-term?

What areas require co-operation between the Federal and State Governments?

What are the positive and negative issues related to the State Government’s actions to date?

The Blueprint will provide for a comprehensive and holistic plan that streamlines the needs, expectations and issues faced by the public with the planning process at the State and Local government levels.

More on the Selangor Blueprint 2011-2013

Why?

The Selangor Blueprint is to act as a Mid-Term Review of Selangor’s performance to date since March 2008. In addition, Pakatan Rakyat’s existing Common Policy Platform formulated last year will now be translated into a State Government-level Plan, from philosophy and principle to action and implementation. This will also help the Selangor government identify strategic areas of policy revision and implementation in the short and medium term. For long term purposes, economic growth areas and ecosystems will be identified for Selangor.

These state-wide consultation sessions are a bottoms-up approach as opposed to a top-down methodology of obtaining feedback from the grassroots and community leaders in society. Problems faced by the

The Selangor government is also simultaneously meeting in smaller consultative sessions industry leaders (developers, manufacturers, service providers) and other community leaders (NGOs, think tanks, academics, religious groups). This will take place throughout the month of September.

The first draft of the Plan is due to be completed in October, and its final report tabled to the Selangor State Legislative Assembly in November, distributed to the public in December 2010.

Governance is both principle and action. The Selangor Blueprint will allow the opportunity of providing the rakyat with a commitment of both of these, from the Pakatan Rakyat government. With strategic policies and plans in place, this will allow the State Government to identify immediate areas to address in the short term. For mid-term and long-term, patterns will be identified across all 12 consultation sessions.

We look forward to your inputs and ideas faced in your specific locality, as well as suggestions for more macro and State-level issues that have not yet been addressed.
