Why Asian Studies at Universityin Seoul, South Korea?

Many experts believe Asia will lead in the 21st century, and that Korea will play a key role in business, politics, culture and education. That’s why the Asian Studies program at Sejong University, with its unique social sciences approach, is such a great place to prepare for this exciting future.

In fact, international students have been coming to Sejong for almost 20 years. Some have used the Asian Studies program as a launching pad to successful professional and business careers. For others, the program has served as a vital stepping stone to doctoral studies. In all cases, students have benefited from the opportunity to study and live in Seoul – one of the world’s safest and most exciting megacities.

As a part-time program with late afternoon and evening classes, the ASP can easily accommodate students who want to combine work with study. And, with four and five semester options and available thesis track, students get to determine their own pace. Finally, Sejong’s reasonable tuition and generous scholarships make the ASP program affordable for students from many countries.

At Sejong, we are proud of the multicultural environment we have created on campus, with more than 1,600 international students in 2017. Major ranking organizations have also noted our emerging excellence. Sejong now ranks in the top 12 universities in Korea (THE) and top 100 in Asia (#93 - QS). I encourage prospective students to learn more about us, then join our Asian Studies Master’s Program at Sejong University.

Program Requirements & Courses

In order to graduate, students must earn 30 credit hours, and pass two comprehensive exams in their penultimate semester. (Note: the optional master’s thesis counts for 6 of these 30 credit hours)

Starting in 2017, six courses have been designated as ASP Foundation Courses, with two offered each semester in rotation. In addition to these Foundation Courses, students can choose from ASP Elective Courses, or courses offered by other graduate programs at Sejong, such as Hospitality & Tourism Management or the MBA program.
