Sedimentologisches Praktikum
Schwermineralanalyse
Schwerminerale: → Minerale mit spez. Dichte >2.89 (2,86) g/cm3
→ z.B. Amphibol, Pyroxen, Zirkon, Turmalin, Rutil, Epidot, Spinell„Alumosilikate“, etc. ..., (Erzminerale), (Phyllosilikate), ...
Sedimentologisches Praktikum
Wozu Schwermineralanalyse ?
• Liefergebietsanalyse (inkl. Sedimenttransportwegeund -verteilungsmuster)
• Abgrenzung bzw. Korrelation versch. Sandkörper
• Diagenese-Studien („intrastratal solution“)
• Sedimentationsprozesse (Hydraulik!), selektive An-/Abreicherung, „Mineralseifen“
• Bodenkunde, forensische Studien, etc.

Sedimentologisches Praktikum
Let’s imagine: these are all information from a basin of 200 km width and 5 km depth... how to correlate?

Aufbereitung
• „ideale“ Probe → Fein-/Mittelsandstein, wenig alteriert, rel. große Menge
• Desaggregation in z.B.
• Siebung, i.d.R. Fraktion 63 – 125 µm, evtl. auch gröbere Fraktionen
• Dichtetrennung mittels Schwereflüssigkeit in Zentrifuge oder gravitativ imScheidetrichter, Probenteilung!
• Einbettung in speziellen Medien, z.B.
