Overview
• What is a MUD? A Municipal Utility District (MUD) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas authorized by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Primary goal is to provide water, sewer, and drainage needs.
• MUDs also have the option to enhance the quality of life for the constituents of the district. (trash, parks, security, etc).
• MUD 61/62’s goal is to improve overall security for the district, as well as Williamsburg Settlement.

District Sheriff Car Coverage
• Single roaming district car to cover this beat.
• Additional car assigned to contracts.
• Large coverage area relative to neighborhood.
Oversite• Joint contract signed between 61/62 and the HCSO.
• Deputies will do what they do best – Be visible, enforce law and be deterrent to crime– Handle feedback from residents for specific hot spots
• When the Sheriff is needed– 911 – no change– Non‐emergency number for all other – no change

Expanded Security Coverage
• Collaboration between MUD 61 and MUD 62 is required because of the neighborhood boundary. This collaboration includes business outside of the neighborhood.
• Minimal Patrol Activity in certain areas– St. John XXIII Private school ‐ gated
– U of H and HCC – Campus Police
– Newpark ‐ gates and security
– Skybox ‐ gates and security
– Mason Sr. Center, The Grand, Luxe at Katy, San Remo ‐ gate access only
• Minimal time needed to patrol these areas.

Conclusion
• MUDs will provide more time, visibility, and true law enforcement/crime prevention capability with security patrol.
• HOA patrol filled a gap that was much needed.
• HOA will decide what to do with their budget savings.
