In order to improve the protection of security staff, Sprint Telematics have developed the VENTURE with special security functions. In the form of a portable GPS-receiver (with a built in mobile phone) the Venture device makes it possible to aquire the location of the security person at any time. This location may even be achieved inside buildings by means of additional indoor sensors. In the scenario that the monitored person should not move (walk around) for a sustained period, an alarm can be initiated at the central office. This safety function is known as the “Man- Down“ Function. In this instance, the central office can make contact with the user by means of either of call or by sending a message to inquire the reason for the inactivity. Alternatively, emergency action can commence in the event of no response. In addition, fixed (pre-set) telephone numbers enable the person concerned to initiate a telephone call. The Venture devices can also considerably reduce the misuse of work telephones for private use. VENTURE – the „PLUS“ for passive security.
