What does the vehicle have that makes it so effective?

Visible deterrentThe exterior of the Mobile CCTV van features the Securitas branding and has been designed to provide the most effective possible physical deterrent.

CamerasThe van has 7 fixed external cameras. These offer a full day and night time capability, giving 360 degree vision in the vicinity of the van. The van also houses a roof mounted PTZ camera which is attached a 5 metre Hydraulic telescopic mast.

Monitoring and Recording EquipmentThe vehicle can be manned or monitored remotely. Images can be monitored from any PC with access through an internet connection, or through a mobile phone. The images can also be monitored by our Alarm Receiving Centre, who can despatch Securitas Mobile Officers where necessary or contact Emergency Services if required.

High quality recording equipment and images assist with prosecution following crime incidents. The remote software is highly innovative, and features automatic patrol and full audio.

Audio Warning SystemThe left, right and rear of the vehicle are fitted with audible alarm monitors. These are activated by PIR when an individual gets too close to the vehicle. The system is equipped with audio and microphone so that the user can direct or warn individuals manually when they are too close.

The vehicle will be strategically placed within the desired location.

Where and how can the vehicle be used? Here are some examples of locations where the CCTV Van can be deployed:

• Retail Parks

• Car Parks

• Events, Festivals, Concerts and public demonstrations

• Town Centres

• Locations under threat

• Reassurance after incident of crime

• General theft

Why would a customer use this service?

RetailersRetailers need to create a safe environment for their customers to shop in. They do not want to lose customers.

Shoppers who have a bad experience are unlikely to return. If the car park is prone to vandalism or even if it looks unsafe, shoppers may well chose to take their business elsewhere. If the car park portrays an unwelcoming environment or has a history of damage or vandalism to vehicles this is again a deterrent to business.

The Securitas CCTV vehicle has been proven to deter car park crime. The

Perceived ThreatIt is not just retailers who need to deter crime within their car park environment.

Leisure centres, Government buildings and companies who are likely to be targets because of the line of business they operate in, can also benefit from the deterrent value of the vehicle. Employers whose staff are exposed to vulnerable car parks especially through the hours of winter darkness need to protect their employees. The van is a rapidly deployed, cost effective and flexible solution for the employer.

Community safetyThe vehicle can be used to combat anti social behaviour in cooperation with local authorities. The vehicle can be based in a Town centre at times identified as likely to be prone to this type of disorder.

Local authorities seek to reduce crime in the most cost effective way. The vehicle represents a more attractive financial deterrent than a van full of police officers.

Police forces themselves will welcome extra monitoring and deterrent against anti social behaviour. Again the vehicle represents lower costs than full time police officers.

Events organisersThe vehicle can be placed to monitor all types of events from football matches through to pop concerts.

Events organisers will welcome ways to stop crime at their events. They will wish to avoid bad publicity ruining any future business.

The vehicle can assist the police by recording events at public demonstrations. It can be used in conjunction with the Police force as a back up to a law enforcement presence.

results of an in-depth analysis carried out with a number of Marks and Spencer stores show the difference the presence of the vehicle can make.

Retailers can also use the vehicle to reassure staff following any criminal activity.

“The use of the Securitas CCTV van within our car park sites has shown a measurable decrease in crime of 23%”

Clint Reid, Head of Security Marks & Spencer
