This document details the general steps, in order of execution to deploy the Webroot

SecureAnywhere Web Security Service, using the Desktop Web Proxy (DWP)

software.

Follow all the steps in this document to properly deploy the Webroot SecureAnywhere

Web Security Service. Customers are solely responsible for configuring their systems

and networks in accordance with industry best practices.

The deployment steps are:

Receive the Webroot Welcome Email – See page 2.

Log In and Change Your Password – See page 3.

Verify Account IP Address – See page 4.

Download the DWP Software – See page 6.

Install the DWP Software – See page 7.

Verify User Auto-Creation – See page 8.

Verify Policy Settings – See page 9.

Lockdown Settings, If Applicable – See page 14.

Add Bypasses, If Applicable – See page 17.

You must have the appropriate credentials to install the DWP software on your

end user machines.

The DWP software only runs on the Windows Operating System.

Customers are solely responsible for configuring their systems and networks in

accordance with industry best practices.

To receive the Webroot Welcome email:

1. You will receive a Welcome Email from Webroot (Web Filtering Service) notifying you that your account has been registered.

2. The email contains your login details.

To log in and change your password:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with the credentials you received from the email in the Receiving the

Webroot Welcome Email procedure on page 2.

3. The system prompts you to change your password.

Your password must meet the following requirements:

Have a minimum length of eight characters.

Use at least three of the following types of characters:

Lower case

Upper case

Numbers

Special characters

To verify the account IP Address:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with your administrator credentials.

3. Click the Accounts tab, then click the Account tab.

4. In the lower right corner, locate the IP Range field.

5. In a separate browser, enter the following URL:

www.whatismyip.com

This web page displays your current IP Address.

6. Compare the information in the IP Range field from step 4 with the IP Address from step 5.

The IP Range field may contain more than one IP address. It is critical that the IP

address in question display in this field.

7. Do one of the following:

If the IP address displays in the IP Range field, proceed to Downloading the

DWP Software procedure on page 6.

If the IP address does not display in the IP Range field, please contact your

engineer or Webroot Support. Include the IP Address from step 5 of this

procedure, so your account can be modified.

Note: Contact information is listed at the end of this document.

To download the DWP Software:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with your Administrator credentials.

3. Click the Resources tab, then click the Downloads tab.

4. Download and extract the DWP .msi file.

To install the DWP software:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with your Administrator credentials.

3. Run the DWP .msi file you downloaded in the Downloading the DWP Software

procedure on page 6.

4. During the installation, accept all the default settings.

When the installation is complete, the DWP icon runs in the workstation’s System

Tray.

To verify user auto-creation:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with your Administrator credentials.

3. Click the Users tab.

DWP auto-creates the user from the workstation on which you installed DWP.

To verify your policy settings:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with your administrator credentials.

3. Click the Policies tab.

Note: Users are controlled by the Best Practices policy by default. Refer to

the Verifying User Auto-Creation procedure on page 8 to see which policy is in use.

4. Next to the policy you want to verify, click Edit.

5. Verify category access by reviewing the information in the Hourly URL Filtering Options area.

6. To modify access, left-click the appropriate hour cell, cycling through the levels of

access.

7. To create exceptions to the Hourly URL Filtering Options, you must create a site

override.

8. Click the Policies tab, then click the Site Override tab.

9. To add your exception, do either of the following:

In the Upload via CSV File area, click the Choose File button to upload a CSV

file.

10.In the Add Individually area, populate the following fields:

11.When you are ready, click the Add Site Override button.

12.To verify or edit what file types are permitted to be downloaded or uploaded, click

the Files tab.

13.Modify access to each type of file by left-clicking the appropriate cells. The following colors indicate the file access both for upload and download functions:

Green – Permission Granted

Red – Permission Denied

Yellow – Underlying Permissions Mixed

14.Click the Save button to save your changes.

Note: Only follow these steps if you need to lock down settings; this task is optional.

To lock down a setting:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with your administrator credentials.

3. Click the Accounts tab, then the Account tab, and click the Edit button.

4. Click the DWP Configuration tab.

5. To stop the user from changing the proxy server settings, from the Prevent user access to browser proxy settings drop-down menu, select Enabled.

Note: If you select Enabled, 15 minutes before uninstalling the DWP, you

must set the option to Disabled.

6. To hide the icon in the System Tray, select the Hide Icon in Tray checkbox.

7. Click the Save button to save your changes.

8. Do either of the following:

Allow up to 15 minutes for the changes to take effect.

Restart the DWP software to force the changes to take effect immediately.

It might be necessary to bypass the Webroot SecureAnywhere Web Security Service

for internal websites, trusted resources, etc. By entering a site in the Bypass field,

you are telling the browser to connect directly to that site, bypassing Webroot

altogether.

Note: Only follow these steps if you need to add a bypass; this task is optional.

To add a bypass:

1. In a web browser, enter the following URL:

https://weblogin.webroot.com

2. Log in with your administrator credentials.

3. Click the Accounts tab, then click the Account tab, and then click the Edit

button.

4. Click the DWP Configuration tab.

5. In the Browser Bypass: Browser connects directly to the internet field, enter the sites that you want to bypass the filtering service.

Keep in mind the following:

You do not need to enter http:// before each site

Separate multiple sites with a semi-colon

Wildcard characters are allowed

6. Click the Save button to save your changes.

7. Do either of the following:

Allow up to 15 minutes for the changes to take effect.

Restart the DWP software to force the changes to take effect immediately.
