Types of Bonus Points No of Bonus Points Awarded

For applicants with the following CCA grades: a) Excellent or Grades of A1 - A2 b) Good or Grades of B3 – C6

2 points 1 point

Applicants with GCE ‘N (Academic)’ Level grades of 1 to 5 for pre-requisite subjects (e.g. Mathematics, English and Science) for the courses applied for.

2 points for each pre-requisite subject, up to a maximum of 4 points for the course applied.

ITE Early Admission Exercise (EAE)

1. It’s for those who have talents and interests in specific fields of study

– Focus on course-specific skills and interests

– But, also consider non course-specific achievements, e.g. sports, performing arts, leadership

2. You’ll be assessed through different modes

– E.g. interviews, skills tests, showcasing your portfolio, depending on the course you apply for

3. This exercise will take place before your ‘N’ Level exams

– If your application is successful, ITE will give you a conditional offer before you take the ‘N’ Level exams.

4. You will still have to meet the minimum entry requirements (or your offer will be revoked)

– Most Nitec courses have subject-specific minimum entry requirements.

5. But you won’t have to compete for the course admission to ITE strictly on the basis of how well you do academically compared to everyone else.

– i.e. You will already have been accepted for the course of your choice so long as you meet the minimum entry requirements for the course.

Please refer to the ITE website www.ite.edu.sg for entry requirements and cut-off points (COP). (COP may vary from year to year)

How can you help?

• Support your children as they explore and discover their passions.

• Encourage them to build up their personal portfolio.

• These can be done through:

– participation and achievements in CCA

– school programmes such as learning journeys, work experience programme (WEP), ITE elective modules (EM), competitions (ITE Challenge)

Elements of Business Skills (EBS)

Elements of Business Skills (EBS) EBS is an introduction to business through an

understanding of business activities, focusing on basic marketing and customer relations.

These are learnt in the context of businesses in the travel and tourism, hospitality and retail industries in Singapore.

Elements of Business Skills (EBS) This subject also provides students with the foundation for

further studies at institutes of higher learning.

Through this course of study, students become aware of the prospects and challenges of a career in the services sector.

Elements of Business Skills Paper 1 – Written Paper (60%)

There will be 4 to 5 short-response and structured questions

– with helping words

– requiring short answers, not necessarily in complete sentences

Activity type and pictorial questions may be included.

Duration: 1.5 hours

Marks: 100

Paper 2 – Coursework (40%)

Candidates conduct research on a business in one of the 3 service industries, namely travel and tourism, hospitality and retail industries, in the Singapore context and make recommendations on how business can improve its marketing mix or customer service.

Duration: 20 hours during curriculum time

Marks: 80
