Second Bulletin International Workshop on Next Generation Nucleon Decay and Neutrino Detectors (NNN15) and Unification Day 2 Workshop (UD2) Stony Brook University October 28-31, 2015 This is the second bulletin describing the upcoming NNN15/UD2 Workshop which will be held in the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics (SCGP) auditorium on the Stony Brook west campus, Wednesday through Saturday October 28-31, 2015. II. Poster Presentations Abstracts for posters should be submitted by September 18, 2015 to: [email protected] Limited amount of funds are available from the workshop sponsors to provide partial support to participants, and priority will be given to the students who will make poster presentations. III. Registration To register please use online registration system on the workshop web site. The registration fee for the workshop is $100. Extra effort was made to keep the registration fee as low as possible. The fees will cover partial costs of coffee breaks, the receptions, the dinner and local transportation. Additional tickets for the banquet are available if you wish to bring guests. Payment of registration fees must be made by cash (at the registration desk), check, or money order. It must be a bank draft, certified check, or money order in US dollars. Personal checks must be drawn on a US bank. Regretfully, checks drawn in foreign currency will not be accepted and be returned. IV. Financial Support

While all participants are expected to cover their own travel expenses and registration fees, with generous contributions made by the workshop sponsors limited funds are available to provide partial support to participants (theorists and students) with a tight budget. A request for financial support must be made through the online registration system by September 18, 2015. V. Accommodations The most convenient hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn which is on campus, five-minutes walking distance away from the conference venue. In addition, there are two hotels available in the vicinity of the university: the Holiday Inn Express, and Danford's Inn. A limited number of rooms are set aside for the Workshop participants. Each participant is responsible for making her/his own reservation and is encouraged to make the reservation as early as possible since we expect large demands for rooms during the Workshop period. Please mention NNN15 Workshop when reserving rooms. There will be a shuttle bus service between the Holiday Inn Express and the Campus in the mornings and evenings during the Workshop. Transportation There are three major airports from which Stony Brook is easily reached. The Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip is 25 minutes (16 miles) from the campus. Kennedy (JFK) and LaGuardia airports are about an hour and a half (approx. 50 miles) to the west. Rental car, taxi, shared shuttle bus, and limousine services are available from all three airports. From JFK, it is possible to reach the Stony Brook campus by train. Stony Brook can also be reached by train from Manhattan Penn Station via the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and by ferry cross Long Island Sound from Bridgeport, Connecticut to Port Jefferson, Long Island and from New London, Connecticut to Orient Point, Long Island. The train stops at the Stony Brook station on campus. More detailed information can be found on the Workshop website. There will be shuttle bus service between the Holiday Inn Express, Danford’s Inn and the Campus in the mornings and evenings during the Workshop. Transportation to and from the Workshop Dinner on Friday evening will be provided. A limited number of parking permits will be available for participants. They will be distributed to the registered participants on a first-come-first-served basis. With a parking permit, one can park in almost all parking lots on campus. Parking is relatively easy before 10 AM and after 4 PM. VIII. Social Events The following events are planned for Workshop participants and their companions. Companions are welcome to join the banquet with $60/person fee. The companion tickets need to be purchased in advance at the registration desk. Sunday (no-host) Theater Trip, “The Book of Mormon”, Sunday, Nov. 1, 7:00 PM show, Eugene O’Neill Theatre: A limited number of tickets are group-purchased for the convenience of the workshop participants who wish to see the hit Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon” (winner of 9 Tony Awards including Best Musical) at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in Manhattan. The show time is 7:00 PM on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015. The tickets are available to the Workshop participants on a first-come-first-served basis. The ticket prices are: $99.50 for the Mezzanine seats. (Note that individual ticket price is $180 or higher.) No transportation will be arranged by the Workshop for this trip. Participants are advised to make their own travel arrangements. The theater can be reached conveniently by train and other public transportation from Stony Brook. One could also use local limousine service. IX. Local Information The Stony Brook campus is located in the middle of Long Island about 60 miles east of Manhattan. It is close to the north shore beaches (5 minutes by car) and the south shore Fire Island beaches can be reached in 30 minutes. At the east end of Long Island, one can find the famous Hamptons area and many local wineries. The weather in October is expected to be variable but generally fair and cool. X.
