The non-profit foundation myclimate - The Climate Protection Partnership is an internationalclimate protection organisation based in Switzerland. myclimate promotes the gathering of

knowledge about CO2 reduction, raises awareness and inspires long-term climate protection.The foundation also draws upon various management tools, such as CO2 balance sheets, CO2

reporting or a performance-management tool, to provide an optimal basis for decision-making

in businesses. In addition, myclimate promotes carbon neutrality via the principle of voluntary

CO2 offsetting.

Carbon offset projectsmyclimate develops and supports projects around the world that directly reduce greenhouse

gases and in doing so directly protect the climate. myclimate carbon offset projects fulfil the

highest standards (CDM, Gold Standard). They not only reduce climate-impacting emissions,but also contribute to sustainable development in the project regions.

International projects

myclimate supports and develops carbon offset projects around the world. Most of the projects

are in developing and threshold countries, in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

methane emissions. The carbon offset projects lead to a

reduction in CO2 emissions while making a significant

contribution to sustainable development in the respectiveregions. The projects create new jobs and income

opportunities, improve living conditions and raise thestandard of living of the local population. Last not least, the

measures also promote the transfer of technology.

The international projects include both CER and VER

projects. They are monitored by a UN-recognizedauthority. All international myclimate VER projects fulfil thestrict criteria of the Gold Standard without exception, and the

CER projects are for the most part labelled as Gold Standard

certified or are in the process of becoming Gold Standardcertified.

This project supports the distribution and use of solar cookers and efficient

cookers. The consumption of fuel for cooking purposes can thus be

considerably reduced.

The solar cooker project is located in the dry province Ningxia in the northwest of

China. 17,000 solar cookers are produced and sold at a reduced price to the poor

rural population. Each solar cookers has a rated output of 773.5 W, which leads to atotal project thermal output of 13 MW. The project has provided thousands of solarcookers to villagers in the rural mountainous area of Ningxia Hui, one of the poorest

places in China. The Pengyang region, located at high altitude, is ideal for utilizingsolar energy.

The distribution of the solar cookers allows the rural population to give up cookingwith climate-damaging coal, and to efficiently use affordable, renewable energy from

now on. Every year, about 35,000 tons of CO2 emissions will be saved.

The carbon offset project makes an important contribution to the sustainable

development of this Chinese region: The project promotes the use of clean energy

and increases the consciousness for climate protection among the villagers. Theknowledge about solar energy technology is transferred into the partly

underdeveloped region, which consequently benefits the education and training of therural population. Moreover, the carbon offset project serves as a demonstration model

for future projects of this, or a similar type.
