PERSONAL ESSAY INSTRUCTIONS

Please write this essay yourself, in your own words.

It is okay to get help, but we want your essay to show how you write. It's okay to make mistakes - we understand that you are learning English as a second language! We care more about the content (your personal experience and opinions), than perfect spelling or grammar.

The essay should be a Word document, 250 - 400 words, typed, and double spaced.

No Google docs will be accepted.

Please answer each question:

* How has your experience has been in college thus far -- challenges and successes?

* What do you wish you had known before you started college?

* What difference did the scholarship make for you?

* How has your mentor or tutor helped you (if you have one)?

* What advice would you give a new college student from our program?

* Have your interests and/or goals changed since you started college? If so, please explain.

* Is there any help you would have liked or would like in the future?
