Community Counseling Centers of Chicago
2009Letter from Lannie & Tony
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the entire C4 community—the board ofdirectors, staff and most of all, the people helped byour services—we are proud to offer you this inspiringcalendar that showcases original work by our C4 artists.
Some of the artists have been with C4 for several years;others are just beginning. But all have been able toenrich their recovery from mental illness or substanceuse using expressive art. It is no accident that C4 chosethe art of healing Life as its motto. We recognize thatrecovering from mental illness is a holistic process thatrequires not only services that are medically necessary, but also activitiesthat can engage the heart and spirit.
As we continue to face the extraordinary challenges of declining statefunding, we are grateful for the contributions from foundations, corpora-tions and individuals like you that enable us to remain a compassionateand innovative leader in behavioral health care. Thanks to your generosity,we raised a record $536,000 from private sources last year. Our first annual C4 Miles: Making Strides for Mental Health brought together 318 participants and 100 volunteers to raise funds and fight stigma.
True to our mission, we continue to offer state of the art services to thosewho rely on us for help. Our new supported employment services equipadults challenged by mental illness to move to the workplace and inde-pendence. C4 is one of only seven sites nationwide to pilot Mental HealthFirst Aid, an innovative training that helps organizations and the generalpublic respond to someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Through a partnership with the Asian Health Coalition of Illinois (AHCI), we aretraining community partners to deliver culturally competent mental health services.
May all of us practice the art of healing life in 2009!
Sincerely,
Anthony A. Kopera, Ph.D. Lannie LeGear, Ph.D.President & CEO Chairperson, Board of Directors
